The movie which I liked better than braveheart is "RAN" - It is a japenese movie filmed in Canada about a Japanese Emperor and his sons. I think that movie was bloodier than Braveheart - however "RAN" was more of an Art movie!

Ah yes, Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece - basically 'King Lear' in Japanese...
Well worth watching in the cinema (if some obscure arty cinema hall continues to screen this movie).
As a side note to anyone wishing to rent this on a video/dvd - reading subtitles for 2 hours and 40 minutes could be a bit much on a screen size of less than 36 inches :)
