The Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “O you who have believed with your tongues, yet faith has not yet entered your hearts! Do not backbite the believers (one version adds: nor irritate them, nor smear them), nor expose their hidden faults. For the one who exposes the faults of others shall be exposed by Allah Himself, and the one whom Allah exposes shall be exposed (i.e., humiliated) even if [he seeks shelter] in his own house.” Reported by Abu Dawud and others.
This is a stern warning to those people who revel in slandering others and speaking about others. There are those whose claim to fame is merely in talking about other people and ‘exposing’ them. Yet, we see over and over again how Allah humiliates such people in this world, and still the punishment of the next awaits if they do not repent.
Be careful, O Muslims, of using your tongue to harm other believers or slander them. And to err on the side of caution, and be silent about other people, is always better and safer. “From the perfection of one’s faith is to leave that which does not concern him.”
O Allah! I seek refuge in Your Majestic Names and Perfect Attributes from humiliation in this world, and from punishment in the next.
JazakAllah for this reminder. What a tough battle it is to guard the tongue, especially because of the bad habit and years of conditioning to not restrict the words to only the good.
I think it would be an error of huge proportions to apply this to ourselves when we are involved in the propagation of slander
The correct order of respect is like this - Allah and The Anbiya Alaihumus Salam, The Sahaba and Tabieen, The Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah [traditional Islam], The righteous Believers of present day, and then us, the people of today
I cant stress the importance of this enough. One can not use the above hadith to ask for respect whilst their own religion is based on a disagreement with the Believers and they have labelled the Believers as Mushriks and have caused mass hysteria with their propaganda - which is the true-ist form of going against the above Hadith. Going against Islam [wrong beliefs] and slandering the religion with their [Mushrik] allegation and the Believers, and forming a sect for this purpose
If innocence is what one is looking for they should Ask Allah Ta’ala for help, and avoid themselves from propagating for a sect and be careful of whom their knowledge is being influenced by in the Duniya
That’s really rich coming from you, when 9 out of 10 posts you make accuse, label, or call someone a deviant while proclaiming everything you do to be from among the believers (AlHamdulillah, you are my brother in Islam and I am glad for it because we need a strong ummah). Why can’t we just work on ourselves rather than look for faults in others? The hadith is straight and clear, as is the deen of Islam. It is us, ourselves that add to it, subtract from it, and make it difficult for ourselves to follow the straight path, and then wonder about the state of the ummah.
If each of us said one less thing which may hurt others per day, it would make a significant difference in our dealings with others and may actually allow room for better understanding, and shrink the sub-sectarian garbage that has crept up within us widening the gaps.
I know ‘positions’ and have Imaan on a few points because I have crossed those hurdles - hurdles which were set up by a particular anti Islamic propagation
I also back my positions when I refer to something or someone as deviant - I do so from a position of responsibility. This is the Mercy upon me, that I am allowed to talk against the enemies of Islam and the Muslims, and If, If, I get it wrong - you are right its a long long way down. the same applies to all of us including you
I look forward to talking to you in the other thread, awaiting your on topic contribution regarding the SLANDER upon the believers or your defence of the content of the slanderer
I am glad that you are excelling in your learning, and may Allah make it ever so easy for you. Unfortunately, I am not as learned as you so I cannot indulge in the labeling, lest I become accountable for uttering even a single word against another muslim.
So you are this man: who has believed with your tongue, yet faith has not yet entered your heart!
Do not backbite the believers
I am this man: a little of Iman has entered my heart, and I will defend the Believers
Them threads are involving subjects which are almost elementary, so please put down all the weapons you have picked up against me - if indeed you can not discern between correct beliefs and wrong beliefs, lets you harm the Believers either by opposing us or by contributions that you make to support the propagation of wrong beliefs.
Yes seriously us time nahi pata chalta but jab sazaein suno tu it just scary really…we couldn’t afford a pain in this life..may Allah forgive us and may He grant all of them jannah who have been by our tongue by any mean and may they forgive us too Ameen
Ameen and this ayat comes in my Mind whenever i think about backbiting (maazAllah)
Woe to every fault-finding backbiter; (1) surah Al-Hamaza
Allah is telling whatelse left? may Allah forgive us Ameen
those that truly are “believers” will never shout it out as such…
I may be wrong but I was alway taught that the bough with the greatest number of blooms leans towards the ground with the weight of its bounty…
Im not aware of what you have heard, and what i said which was different in any case had nothing wrong with it.
I can explain what was said if you have time
I dont understand your example and how it applies here - please explain what it means
If you want to oppose me you basically got to oppose me on the point i made in my first post here.
To be frank, i doubt you know what is being said! Prove me wrong By understanding my point and then replying.
