so what are your expectations as you connect with any guppies on FB/LI/Twitter, assuming it is your real profile.
I mean you have to know the person i guess, unless one is a collector who just wants umpteeen ‘friends/contacts/followers’
so not to be evasive, here is my dilemma..there is the GS me and then there is the non GS me, well I am the same really so thats not an issue but if someone from GS wants to become a facebook pal, where I have my friends and family, should this person not also be open about it? I mean there has to be parity right?
on the same note, an amusing story, there are privacy settings, someone had me looking at a very restricted profile of theirs, now usually I cant be arsed to bother, but one day to be a punk I set her access level to mimic exactly what she had for me, and the got msgs about why I was being a richard.

I totally agree with this. I mean if I am letting someone in my real FB profile then I expect that person not to show up as Desiboy786 or FairyDoll1988.
Re: GS to facebook/linkedin/twitter parity principle
and its not even that I dont know the individuals, and they may have other reasons that I dont understand, so its not like I dont know them enough, but e.g. if TLK u send me an invite with your real profile, byall means, but if u sent it as TLK, it would be diff right?

there is one exception here. There are people who are so sensitive about their public profile that they will no where show up as their real self. I mean in PMs and emails, they will open up with you but because they know that others can also see their profile when on FB, they still like to enter with their pseudonym. I could entertain one or two friends like such (just to respect their privacy) but then there should be a very strong personal bond with that person for me to do that.
Re: GS to facebook/linkedin/twitter parity principle
TLK, what about someone with the name like TLKIamyourbiggestfan or TLKyoudaman huh? Or a Klingon by he name PadPrikKhing…ok that’s the spicy green beans dish you refused to buy me …OK whatever. Yah.
slowly leaving this thread as I believe I’m not making much sense. goodbye

so share your views on the parity principle?
Meaning? if someone on GS adds you , they should also be open about thier personal lives/families?
I think I am pretty open, I do create a separate list of ppl for those on GS, but they have the same access that everyone else does.
Re: GS to facebook/linkedin/twitter parity principle
yup, but as long as i know who they really are in that case, whether they share that with the rest of the cyberworld is a diff issue. got it.
what about linkedin?
Linkedin is a totally different case. One should never enter Linkedin if one is not ready to be open about themselves. And this brings another interesting point. If I am connected to you through FB but still using my TLK nick, I would never be able to use you as my contact/friend in the real world in any meaningful way. For starters, if I am looking for a job, I cant even send you my resume cause it has all my info (I guess same goes for linkedin) which is weird cause whole world can access my resume and hence my real info through Monster.com but I am hiding myself from the one whom I called my friend.
Re: GS to facebook/linkedin/twitter parity principle
yup, I have a few ppl from GS on linkedin, one on twitter..both of which are 100% professional focus. a few on fb which is my personal side.
although there are ppl on GS who I am not connected outside of here but have had their resumes for critique and feedack or just forwarding them to others, not an issue in my view
Re: GS to facebook/linkedin/twitter parity principle
On my fb have my family and those friends whom I know for many many years and are my very close friends. If I get a friend request and I do not recognize the name I would ask them bluntly to introduce themselves to me. I do not have any work , or business acquaintance on my fb this way I can maintain a reasonably balanced parity. No ?
