GS sugar-cut challenge!

I don’t drink sodas either :hehe:

So just to pat myself on back, this week I’ve said no to the offers of indian sweets, baklawa, halwa etc. We have bagel friday today at work and as my recent researched showed there is a lot of sugar in bagels so I didnt go for it.

Trust me it hurts for a foodie like me to say no to free food :teary1:

but now to kick myself i’ve eaten a little bit of Gajar ka halwa last night. Also I’m still drinking sports drink Gatorade. So still a long way to go :bummer:

I have cut down my carbohydrates almost to 15-20 grams per day (from wheat)! My HbAg1c has been at 42 through 2019 ( it was as high as 47 in 2017)!

My breakfast is 5% Greek yogurt (160 grams), 60 grams olives and a small pack of nuts
Lunch: Avocado, chicken or 4 beans salad, and broccoli
After finishing job I eat a small pack of pieces of apple and pineapple (100 grams)
Dinner our traditional salan (added into boiled okra soup) with one small multigrain pumpkin seed flat bread (16 grams carbohydrate)

Some time during the week I eat pomegranate and medjol dates

During last year weight has dropped down to 63 kg from 71 kg

So my sugar cut progress had a step back yesterday when someone brought a pineapple cheese cake and all my control went in drain. Man, its so hard to resist :bummer:

Another task is to stop take white bread in breakfast. I would rather skip bread completely. Lets see if better alternates can be found

Is GuR considered to be sugar?

Yesss!
If you are trying to eat clean then stay away from gurr as well.

Ps: I wrote that while having a piece of chocolate cake.

Now that you are here, just tell what sugary things you take, and what are you going to cut down to be a part of this very friendly challenge? :asa:

Friendly?

Ok, I’ll go with ‘B’.

I messed up some more but we are not going to talk about it. :snooty:

I will try this again tomorrow.

Does anyone use liquid stevia?

Sugar is toxic but I don’t even want to think about the sugar I consume daily in the form of bread, rice, roti and junk. I try to fool myself by using coconut sugar instead of brown sugar and I like to think dates and honey are okay, them being mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah etc.
:bummer:

Btw @navzzz I like your dp, very accurate

glad u like it, please be my patient, syringe is still full…

Bigger guilty of using the bold. Trying to get rid of it but it seems so unavoidable. Or not but i guess needs much better alternates.. sigh

Yeah it’s tricky. With rice, cooled rice contains resistant starch so that’s better. With roti, I made rotiyan out of spelt flour but couldn’t get used to the taste. Even tried rye flour but that was a disaster. Jau ki roti (made from barley flour) is much better alternative but haven’t tried it yet, it is one of the foods recommended by the Prophet (pbuh). Bread is my weakness however would prefer sourdough healthwise.

With anything, moderation.

Do not give it up totally, trust me.

Cocktail of propofol and lorazepam, list of side effects is too long, but usually excessive sedation, irregular heart beat and respiratory depression.

Lol no, its just Dihydrogen Oxide, and you cant live without it…

I had 2 tiny slices of cake today

How's the sugar cut going @SID_NY ?

Hm @LP glad you asked. Its actually going good. Once again not a cold turkey but restraining from sweets. Although over the weekend I was at sister's so I did eat Siwayyan. But even then I'm trying to be moderate in quantity. Need to do better but still some progress.

And with that and some running, I'm able to see my weight cutting down. And thats great for me as it was badly needed.

Also trying to skip some carbs in bagel etc. Lets see how far it goes

 that’s very good :alhamd:
I’ve decided to join you all in this challenge. I’ll have desserts once a week from now onwards. I tried to recruit my siblings too. Sis agreed but bro didn’t:bummer:
