This is a question regarding the subscription of threads on GS. Is there a way to subscribe to a thread so that you see it in your main index, without having to receive an email everytime someon responds to the thread?
I believe there isn't a way to subscribe to threads so that they may appear in the 'main' index.
However, you can prescribe to a topic, and it will appear in 'my profile'. Simply go to the thread that you want to subscribe, scroll to the bottom and you'll see an option for subscribe. Subscribe and it'll give you a notification that, that topic has been subscribed. Next simply to go 'my profile and it'll show you the thread that you subscribed to and if there have been any replies to it. :)
It's just a click away. Login on the main page and go to 'my profile' and there's all your personalized stuff for you. :)

Yeah, but the problem is that whenever I subscribe to a thread, I get an email every single time someone responds to that particular thread. I want my subcribed threads to appear in "My Profile", but I don't want to receive the emails. Is that possible? Currently I have it so they appear in "My Profile", and I receive tons of emails. I just want to get rid of the email part.

In 'my profile', go to 'Edit Options' and there's a an option there for:
Use 'Email Notification' by default?
Using this option emails you whenever someone replies to a topic that you have participated in.
Say no to that, I think that should work. :)

Thanks Sehar, but I tried that already. It's already not selected, but I still receive emails. The only way it seems to stop the emails is if I unsubscribe from the thread, which in turn takes it out of "My Profile", which I don't want. Well thanks for your help though :)

I don't think, at present there is a way to stop emails for subscribed threads, without unsubscribing.
The "Email Notification by Default" option which Sehar referred to is merely the default. If you switch it on, every thread u respond to, will be selected by default for subscription. If you switch it off, you will actually have to select subscription to get emails.
One thing is that you only get one email (even if there are multiple responses) for each subscribed thread, till you actually check the thread out. So, its kinda better than previous version, where we used to get a separate email for each response and for a high-traffic forum that could add up a lot. Plus, in the old version, only the topic starter could opt to receive emails and there was no such thing as "My Profile".
