Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

DA

its prominent n looking good with the skin background
i think there should be equal spacing at right n left side of the book, it is bit more on the right side
just make book in the center

thanks DA i agree the book isnt dead centre also i dnt like how the pic looks very flat. any tips DUBAIWALI on how to make it less 2D?

STA
You could remove the bottle of perfume and item next to it. duly noted.

annie bibi
i would suggest the cover of the book could have been more focused...i cant read the title easily.

thanks i had trouble focusing all the letters :/

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

@hmmna…yes..it’s a very random photo..taken right from where i was sitting at that time…true..there is no 1 object of attention…the lamp maybe…:smack:it really is hurting my eyes now.lol,it’s like looking at the sun…the lamp! ,and that is the exact suggestion DA made…the lamp light should be reduced.
@dubaiwali…yes…i liked the reflection in the window too…maybe that was the sole reason of posting this very photo…the clear reflection, the lamp itself isn’t presenting as clear a view as the reflection is.

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

Ok from where

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

background blurriness was not in my hand. it increased when I was taking closeup of lemon. I think, there should some options to avoid it.

I need to look at camera manual. It was kind of trade off between sharpness of front object and blurriness of background object. I think, there will surely a way to make it in modreate combination.

done.

yes, it should moderately blurred. I need to work on it.

done.

Here you go. Picasa

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

Thnkx a lot dear

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

My feedback/critique on your photos. Posting the rest in a bit too.

DA:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? The placement of the shoes.
  • Give a reason to the answer you gave in first question: Artistic. I love the way the shoes are placed. Not straight. Not side by side. On top of one another and one is at an angle. Shows to me, you gave a thought while composing your photograph and that is a key step to taking a good photo. Composition and Framing.
  • As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? Think that with slight editing, this photo could get really good. Magazine quality.
  • What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? Like the contrast between the background and the subject. What I don’t like is the headroom. You left too much space at the top, too little at the bottom.
  • Give a caption to the person’s photograph: First Steps.
  • What can they do improve the photograph? Crop from the top.

Hmmna:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? Undoubtedly, the colour of the book.
  • Give a reason to the answer you gave in the first question: The colour is distinctively different from the rest of the colours in the photo and occupying more space. Hence, it is more eye-catching.
  • As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? Serious yet fun. There is a book on a serious topic in the photo, yet I see a fun book by the side, a bunch of highlighters and I believe there’s a perfume bottle as well; along with a hair spray. So you are a fun, cool chick who studies well too.
  • What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? I love the placement of the things in the photograph and how you managed to get a mixture of them in it. Also, I like how it is obvious that the book is the main subject. What I dislike is the blurriness in the photograph. Lack of details.
  • Give a caption to the person’s photograph: Serious Yet Fun
  • What can they do to improve the photograph? Use the sharpen tool to get the writing clearer.

H&NK:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? The Depth of Field (DOF) stands out the most or in layman’s terms, the blurriness in the background.
  • Give a reason to the answer you gave in the first question: The blurriness of the background helps you focus on the subject, which is the candles.
  • As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? Taken from an angle, means some thought was put in to the picture taking process. Reminds me of a happy occasion. Gives off a warm feeling.
  • **What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? **I like the creative angle that was put behind taking the photograph. I dislike that the flame of one of the candles got cut from the top.
  • Give a caption to the person’s photograph: Warm & Gentle
  • What can they do to improve the photograph? A bit noisy the photograph. Can use noise reduction tool.

Lippy:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? There is a good combination between the top and the bottom. Neither is there too much of the sky, neither is there too much of the grass.
  • Give a reason for the answer you gave in the first question: It has been framed nicely. A good landscape.
  • As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? Reminds me of Tilt-Shift photography/Miniature photography. The chairs and people look like miniatures.
  • What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? Nicely composed. What I hate is the alignment problem. The fence is not straight.
  • Giv e a caption to the person’s photograph: Holiday Fun
  • What can they do to improve the photograph? The sky looks a bit faded. Play around with the lighting in the photograph to make the clouds whiter. Also, make the photo a bit vibrant. Holiday is supposed to be fun and vibrant. This photo looks a bit dull.

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

Sidra:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? Flowers!
  • **Give a reason for the answer you gave in the first question: **Seems like there is a floral theme going on. Flowers everywhere. On the bowl, placed in the background, plus the colours in the photograph reminds me of flowers.
  • As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? An advertisement for a home department store.
  • What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? I like the placement of the plate and bowl in the front, at the corner. Wouldn’t have worked if it was in centre, in my opinion. I am not like the framing and composition that much. The side of the plate is cut. Also the side of whatever that is on the right.
  • Give a caption to the person’s photo: IKEA Summer Collection 2012 ( I can fathom seeing this kind of a photo in an IKEA catalogue)
  • What can they do to improve the photograph? Photoshop the glass out. It is unnecessary and just crowding up the photo.

STA:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? The vividness of the green stands out the most.
  • Give a reason for the answer you gave in the first question: Attractive shades of green.
  • As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? Think of freshly squeezed lemonade.
  • What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? I like the focus on the lemon and the water droplets; I don’t like that part of the leaf being cut. Also the background seems a bit dull.
  • Give a caption to the person’s photo: Fresh and Fresh
  • What can they do to improve the photograph? Brighten up the background.

Annie Bibi:

  • What stands out most in their photograph? The reflection of the lamp.
  • Give a reason for the answer you gave in the first question: Oddly enough, the reflection seems to be the main subject in the photo.
  • **As you keep looking at the photo, what do you think? **Interior Designing. Everything is fabulous. From curtains to the lamp.
  • What aspect of the photo you like and dislike the most? I like how it is dull outside, but warm inside. Two different perspectives in the same photo. I don’t like the intense light coming from the lamp. Also, the lamp shade should not have been cut.
  • Give a caption to the person’s photo: By the Window Side
  • What can they do to improve the photograph? Reduce the light of the lamp a bit in Photoshop. Apart from that, it is perfect. I love the feel I am getting after seeing the picture.

Re: GS Photography learning classes with dubaiwali

All right guys. I believe everyone has had it with critiquing. I know typing a lot is a female dog. I will go towards the next assignment, but I need to know if everyone has downloaded Picasa or not?
