What you said is right, i would answer with the following from Illama Iqbal

their is some universal characteristics Illama Iqbal has pointed out in above message which are Bravery/Courage, Justice and Honesty, the moment any person and/or nation adopts any one of these attributes, the remainder comes on buy one get two free basis, our Nation, the Muslims are lacking all three, no bravery or courage, means there is no body or very few who take stand for the weaker, no or very little social justice and honesty is one thing which can’t be found among the muslims… result, we have become what we are… that is why i have insisted, to be honest with ourselves, once we do that, we would have honest leaders emerging from us… that is all, right now most of the leaders are corrupt and they are corrupt because we are corrupt… not that they have came from another planet… so we need to get back to the basics and do what Iqbal have said above…that is the key of character developing…
Last but not least, it is true that the Sign of Hours are getting obvious with every passing day but it does not mean that we give up trying…
