First tip. If you buy a DSLR, actually do go out and use it. ;) For @STA

Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
Well, depends. What is the standard lens that you got with your D3100?
Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
I have zero info about it, how to check the lens lolz ![]()
Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
Okay. Here’s what your camera looks like with the lens on right? Notice the gold part on your lens. This numeric information is available on all lenses.
Get your camera. See your lens. It should have information on the lens like in the picture below. Tell me what millimetre your lens’s focal length is. Mine is a fixed focal length 40 mm lens, but yours might say 18-150 mm for example.
These two photos were taken with the Canon Ixus 220HS.

Oh nice. That's a good starter lens actually. Try shooting some portraits with it. Would be nice.

Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
and yes plz also tell me wht softwares i l be needing n where can i find them :)
Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
This is the first time you are using it right? Use automatic settings unless, you are outside or in a really well lit area. Then rotate the dial to without flash setting. I hope you get what I mean by that. Because photos look best in natural light.
Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
i have used it many times but only with automatic settings
Re: GS P H O T O G R A P H Y
Use without flash if the room or surroundings are bright. Get Picasa for photo management. Get Adobe Photoshop.
