Mission Statement
All about Gupshup
About us*
Gupshup was originally created to allow Pakistanis, people of Pakistani origin, and anyone interested in or seeking information about all things Pakistani (basically everyone!) to share and exchange information and ideas, in a friendly and cooperative environment. Since its original inception, Gupshup has evolved, and in addition to being a resource of information, the members of Gupshup use it as a social networking site.
Our Aim
Our aim is to create an enjoyable, informative, interesting and engaging platform where posters are comfortable sharing ideas and conversation and making friends and supporting one another, in a family-friendly manner. We want Gupshup to be the next best thing to hosting a gathering of friends and acquaintances in your home, where you can laugh a little, share a little, debate a little and hopefully leave feeling great about the company you’ve kept.
How we Administer Gupshup*
While Gupshup is a moderated forum, our preference is to allow for threads to flow in the appropriate sub-forums, without interference from forum moderators where possible. In order to accomplish this aim, we expect posters in this community to treat one another with mutual respect, courtesy and tolerance.
Gupshup Community Guidelines
The following Gupshup Guidelines are here to help you understand what it means to be a member of Gupshup. Please keep in mind that your participation and posting privileges are subject to these Guidelines and our Terms of Service.
**
Play nice, even if it’s not easy**
Gupshup brings together people from all over the world, with all sorts of experiences, who have differing perspectives on issues. So, while being perfect isn’t possible and maybe even a little boring, remember the cornerstones of Gupshup are mutual courtesy, respect and consideration. We’re each entitled to share ideas and opinions on issues and disagreements are natural - even in real life, how many of us agree with our friends and family 100% of the time? Disagreeing with another poster’s ideas and words is fair game, but personal attacks against either a poster or a recognizable group will not be tolerated.
**
Wrong is wrong**
If it’s illegal in real life, it’s more than likely to be illegal on line as well. And even if there isn’t a specific cyber-law prohibiting specific on-line conduct, behavior that would be considered illegal is prohibited on Gupshup. This includes but is not limited to copyright infringement, hate speech, and cyber-bullying. Please note this is by no means a comprehensive list, but is provided as examples of conduct that will not be tolerated on Gupshup.
**
Own your words**
· You are responsible for what you post and need to remember that the internet and its users have a long memory. Be careful what you post and be prepared to take responsibility for what you’ve written. You are responsible and liable for your own posts. Gupshup administrators do not pre-screen postings, but we do reserve the right to remove messages considered distasteful or offensive for a family-friendly forum. Inappropriate posts include, but are not limited to, those containing copyrighted materials used without permission, libel or obscenities. If posts are off topic, moderators may move your post to a more relevant forum to help manage the flow of online dialogue.
**
Moderators are your friends**
Maybe a slight exaggeration, moderators may not be your BFFs, but they have volunteered their time and effort to help us keep Gupshup a clean and conducive place for posting. If you require assistance from a moderator regarding your posts or online experience, private message the moderator or Channel Manager of that forum and help will be provided.
**
Which hat are they wearing?**
You may not agree with what the moderators say or do sometimes, but remember moderators are posting members on Gupshup as well, and you need to separate their actions as posters from their actions as moderators. If you have questions or comments for or about moderators, send either the Channel Managers or the administrators of Gupshup a message, and we will respond.
**
In Conclusion**,
If you feel that these guidelines are too restrictive and you’re going to have a tough time following them, then maybe Gupshup isn’t for you. These guidelines are meant to help foster an enjoyable online experience for all. You may also want to check out our FAQs, Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
