Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

So we are definitely on for Saturday, August 28.

If you are coming then I need a confirmation by this evening please. I need to allocate the food items and it is necessary to know how many people are coming for that.

Nightwalkr.......you're just chicken......don't use family oriented as an excuse.....there are plenty coming without families.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

will there be anyone in their 40's?
my mom was interested in coming

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

Can you deliver :yummy:

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

no, sorry....no delivery.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

**Update: Event Theme

All members/families attending the Iftaar are asked to bring with them the contents required for at least one LIFE BOX.
We will pack as many boxes as we can and have them delivered to the appropriate location. **

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

Great idea Muzna :k:

Here’s a video explaining the contents of a Life Box, for those who don’t already know…

For more info, please refer to the donation sticky in All Views.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

WOW! What a great theme Muzna! I won't be able to come to the Iftaar, but i'll definitely drop contents for 2-3 Life Boxes Inshallah.

Is it ok if I drop by before Iftaar?

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

Absolutely okay Chandni.
Wish you could stay for iftaar too.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

Life Box:

a.) granola bars
b.) cotton sheets
c.) 1.5 litre water bottles
d.) juice boxes (with straws please; without them it's just an unmanageable mess)
e.) salty biscuits
f.) sweet biscuits
g.) chocolate (it's good energy, easy to feed to children, makes them happy)
h.) miilk (boxed or long lasting)
i.) potato chips
j.) soap
k.) dates
l.) ORS (or the equivalent) (glucose)
m.) disposable glasses

Kindly make sure the food is far from it's expiry date. Make sure it is Halal and does not require extra cooking.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

do we have long lasting Milk boxes in toronto:hmmm:

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

I had bought a case of evaporated milk.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

my mom was suggesting to buy the powder milk.
what do you all think?

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

I think that would work, or there is also UHT milk. Its treated with high temp so it can last for a long time on the shelf.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

where can I buy UHT milk in Toronto?

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

no....please steer clear of all things that require preparation.
we want these items to be easily consumed with least amount of effort.
picture being precariously perched on a roof-top or by the side of the road where there is no hope of clean water, utensils etc.

Re: GS Iftaar Meet - Toronto

I think given the issues with clean water supply, powdered milk may not be appropriate (at least in the short term) - can anyone else with more information comment/respond?
