again, like I said, its the individual’s decision to what he/she feels is the right way to do it - but again, I contend with your and PCG’s position on this cuz you’re trying to judge the other person’s intention in putting up a farewell message. It isn’t necessarily to receive a celebratory send-off! This is a “public” bulletin board, and members have every right to publicly announce their arrivals as well as departrures - they may want to publicly express their gratitude, share their memories and have some final thoughts. Absolutely nothing wrong with that!

I agree with Umar here. I don’t think I have a right or care to know why someone opens a farewell thread when not even a single soul questions my actions. Everyone should do what makes em’ happy and who am I to judge them for it.

I think most morons that open up “leaving” threads are only doing it to vent about what is p i s s i n g them off at that moment. They probably got into an argument with a fellow guppy and before you know it, we are the one reading their farewell speech as if the former president is handing over the job to the new president. They are basically looking for reassurance that there are still some people in GS that likes them. Basically they are just looking for “awwwwwwwww don’t go.” “no no no, please don’t leave.” “we love you so and so, please come back.” type of response so their low self esteemed head could be happy again.
But again, I can understand you feeling otherwise and I will just respectfully disagree.

Just as I would only read a farewell thread for only those I’m close to, if I were to open a thread, I would only do so to thank those people who’ve made it worthwhile to stay here and to thank them publicly as a token of appreciation.
oh yah…you think so? then do me a favor haan, do a little search and see how many farewell threads I have opened. I was away from Gs for quite a while at the end of last year.
Anyways, thats not whats being discussed here, but yes I would say bye to ppl if I feel like it when I leave for good or a little while. I see nothing wrong with that.

Well, sometimes they do open threads like “Where’s Khanzada?”. And in that case that was a better option than sending a PM to him, because most probably he wouldn’t have read it.
I like the ones which say “I’m going to Pak/India to get married etc.” but the ones about I am so disgusted of the filth called GS are so dang boring man.
