I was just wondering if you know of any tricks / ways of growing herbs or small veggies indoors, in your kitchen. I don’t have a balcony (yet)!
I know how to grow green chillies and corriander… just looking for some more!

You can add this cube room to you appartment , condo or home and turn it into a green house what a novel idea.

coriander and methi are really easy to grow. you just need the proper equipment. make sure you have a proper tray/potting gamla. a long one would be the best suited for it. don't fill it with the potting soil you get for indoor plants/flowers though. get proper soil. you can get it from any home improvement store. just fill it in. when you plant your dhania, space them about 3 inches or 1 finger length. make space for the seed in the soil, about 1 inch deep. and plant only 1 seed in each space. cover it, water it lightly so the seeds are still covered. and water them every day. the first couple of leaves are ovalish in space, so don't worry. the 3rd leaf is shaped like the regular corriander shape.
methi seeds you can just sprinkle in the soil. same thing for the corrainder seeds, but the soil doesn't have to be as deep. both coriander and methi sprout in about a week's time.
green chillies might be harder to plant since they need lots and lots of sunlight. and the seedlings you get from a store have to planted a bit deep into the soil. maybe one of those big round deep pots (the traditional kind) can be used. just follow the instructions on the little tab you get with the seedlings for the amount of sunlight and water it needs. green chillies can take a while to give fruit, and take even longer to grow/ripen.
ohh gr8 idea..i have been thinking of doing such activiityat my home as well..but just wanna know one thing..with these sort of pots...r their any unwelcomed guests as well like any kind of insects or anything like this?:S

no as long as the soil isn't from the great outdoors you shouldn't have any creepy crawlies residing with you

steal the neighbour's electricity so they don't trace the extra usage to your basement ;)
