Grooms on the shorter, stockier side- What to wear?

Suits Vs. Sherwanis (on the baraat day). What would look better on guys who are more towards the shorter side and are also a bit bulky?? By short i mean around 5’ 4’’ -ish .

I know theres no miracle menswear out there thats gonna make him suddenly sprout many inches taller but i do know that the type/color/material you choose to wear can make you APPEAR taller or shorter than u are. frankly im not too hung up on making him look TALLER (though it wud be nice if he does :halo:), its just that i dont want him to wear something that actually makes him look shorter and stockier than he is. that is my only concern.

since im practically a fashion-dud , any input from u guys regarding what would suit shorter bulkier men wud be much appreciated  If you could also elaborate a bit on the color and style (eg: three piece suits verses ur regular coat and tie look, or stripey sherwanis versus solid colors) that wud be even greater help!

Also note that we have four events (nikah a day before the mehndi) and he’s already wearing kurtas for both nikah and mehndi, so im leaning more towards a suit for the baraat just to break the eastern-wear monotony.. but obviously id give higher preference to what will actually look good on him rather than breaking the monotony just for the heck of breaking the monotony so any suggestions frm u guys wud be great

Oh and on a separate but still related note, how do u guys feel about the sherwani-with-dressshoes look as opposed to with khussas… he really doesnt like khussas (i dont either) ..they are a bit too FLAT.. dress shoes with cuban heels give a bit more elevation.. but do u think it’ll look TOO ODD??

Please help  thankies

[Mods please feel free to merge this with the older ’ sherwani vs suit’ thread if u feel like the two topics are too similar. the only reason i made this a separate thread is because i felt that this topic had more of a focus on what looks good or bad on shorter grooms as opposed to a general opinion on what shud be worn by the groom at the baraat]*

Re: Grooms on the shorter, stockier side- What to wear?

You can get height uplift insoles to go in the shoes, so you don't see them.

Only down side is i reckon you'd upset the groom and hurt his ego.

He can wear a sirwani, and u can get him the new fashionable kussa's that have a bit of a heel thing, so they arent made out of carboard but silk and then put insoles in them

Hi,

I think a sherwani will look great, thats what my husband wore on our wedding, since I am a little taller we had a little height added to his ghusas :)

Re: Grooms on the shorter, stockier side- What to wear?

@tantam55 you can get height adjustment shoes- if you have family abroad: cousin's, aunt's, etc. I had my cousin from my dad's side buy me a whole ton of stuff and ship it for my wedding, and she happily did that.

Pinstripe suite would do. Also make sure that whether its sherwani or Suit, its dark, preferably black in color.

i dont knw but i m more inclined towards suit sherwani vl make him look more bulkier :@:

I think Sherwani is the best and most traditional dress for the groom in Pakistani Weddings. It gives groom a unique look and also increases his features.

a 2 piece pinstripe suit with short lapels would suit your man's shape i think.
