In my family, we call it “groom’s barri” as well…never heard of or used the word “pehnaoni” before.

We give a suit, dress shirts, ties, dress shoes, (Girls family pays for grooms wedding attire in my family) casual slacks, casual shirts, 2-3 sets of pajamas/nightclothes (including a robe), shaving kit, wallet & keychain set, Cologne and then our eldest mamoo always gifts the groom a nice watch

Pehnaoni is what you give the groom’s family not the groom himself like clothes for his family and maybe gold. Its a common word in Urdu Speaking families, though people from bihar call it nannadana . Maybe Hyderabadais use a different word.
