It’s supposed to be some royal thang… more common in India than Pakistan… at least I’ve never seen a real Pakistani groom carry a sword but I have seen some models do so in photoshoots.

Those lot are holding it wrong ... you are supposed to hold the handle with fist at waist height and rest the blade on shoulder or hold the handle lifting arm across chest so the blade curves down the body ... Holding the blade is wrong.
