Just out of curiosity..how do you guys go about doing grocery shopping?
Does anyone actually get everything they ever need from one place, like stop n shop/costco etc? I imagine for desis living in North America, we can never get stuff in one store unless ur totally vegetarian and dont need masalas…
I dont think i can ever get stuff in one shot, I need to make multiple trips and/or go to different places, if I want to get something cheap.
Why doe s it feel like I already asked this Question once before?
Re: Grocery Shopping
We make 1 trip to the desi bazaar & 1 trip to like pathmark/shoprite. Now once we have gone desi shopping (mirch, masala) it usually lasts a LONG time, so only need to make stops to pathmark/shoprite. Sometimes go to farmer's market for fresh veggies etc.
Re: Grocery Shopping
Nopes...I don't get everything from one place...
about twice a year I shop at the wholesale places (BJ's) for paper goods/soap/detergents/canned goods/cooking oils etc etc...
The other stuff like bread/milk.eggs/fresh produce...usually once a week or sometimes once in 2 weeks...from Price rite or Stop and shop....
I go to the Indian store /Desi store when I am out of rice/daals/spices etc...they usually last a while so don't have to go that frequently....
Re: Grocery Shopping
Two trips. One to the supermarket, and one to desi stores for meat, masalas, etc. There's a list made for each, but I still have to browse and increase the grocery bill. :o
Re: Grocery Shopping
We go to supermarket in a desi area every week, jewel osco and walmart once every 2 weeks for milk, eggs and bread. We only go to Costco like once a month or two when we need to buy something in bulk like juice, snacks, chocs, cleaning supplies, etc. I think it really helps to make a list before going shopping to avoid multiple trips. :)
