Gripe water ?

Good or bad for infants ?

Please advice.

Re: Gripe water ?

I've always given it my kids and they love it! And it does help with tummy trouble, be it nauseousness, vomiting, colic, etc.

However, try to get pure gripe water manufactured in Canada for instance. I prefer it over the Woodwards from India. There are several brands in Canada readily available at any pharmacy.

Re: Gripe water ?

Like Niksik said, its good & does help. Plus it tastes good..to the baby.

Re: Gripe water ?

good..helps with alot of things...

Re: Gripe water ?

it used to b good but now they have changed the brands in uk n its not the same, i personally used to boil 1 tsp of saunf in 4oz water n then give that to my son or do the same with ajawein just use 1/2 tsp of ajawein n give a few spoons every four hours or just aftr feeds

Re: Gripe water ?

hey woodwards is still great..

screw babies.. it tastes good even for grown ups

Re: Gripe water ?

^ yeah, thats why i looked at this thread, i used to LOVE gripe water, until they changed it and made if alcohol free...

^ LOL
yeah, i didn't know it had alcohol...
i loved its smell/taste as a really grown up kid too ...although only tasted it once or twice i think...but i **wanted* *to taste it more often lol ... like when my aunts were giving it to the babies, i felt like having a sip too , but didn't :( would have been too weird asking for and drinking their baby's gripe water

Re: Gripe water ?

Off topic but this reminded me of a funny incident.

I think i was around 11 spending summer holidays @ my nanis who lives in abbotabad.

I asked one of my cousins to get me Naunehal (the digest) from the shops since girls arent allowed to go out in abbotabad.

He came back in fifteen minutes carrying Naunehal’s Gripe Water.

I was like Idiot :smack:

Re: Gripe water ?

^^^ Lolz… gripe water is yummy stuff and cerelac too… When I was in grade 8th, I asked my mom get some cerelac so I can mix it in the milk instead of ovaltine and she said should I buy you a feeder aswell… :hehe:

sorry for going off topic…lol

Re: Gripe water ?

Ha ha! Funny stories.

I love gripe water too. In fact, there was a time when my older daughter was like 18 months old or so, and she would ask me "gipe wata chaiyay" so I'd mix gripe water with plain water in her bottle and she would drink it and fall asleep. They say it calms babies as well as it clears their tummy up.

Re: Gripe water ?

ok wat the heck i admit it i love gripe water too, it was yummylicious. mum used to buy it for my lil bro n more than hlf used to end up in my tummy

Re: Gripe water ?

Gripe water yummy!....

Its always good. I was reluctant to give it to my son in the beginning, but it is a time tested recipe for colic etc..

Re: Gripe water ?

The original gripe water used to have alcohal in it. Not any more. They forbid you to use the ones from India/ Pakistan due to lead content of water so everyone used to get theirs from Canada. However, Little Tummys here in USA has started making gripe water too. You can use it. Mylicon gas drops are also good for fussy infants.
