It is absolutely true and there is no doubt that politicians dying in terrorist attacks does no favour to Pakistan’s image, in fact, such high profile killings massively boost terrorists’ morale and extends their reach which ultimately creates a prolonged sense of fear and defeatism in the public. So yes Cabinet ministers and MPs must have some kind security arrangements set up for them for time being at least.

But at the same time, it was so insensitive and patronising for so many MPs and party workers to tag along. Was there a funfair going on that they all needed to be there? These little things do need to be thought through. They are important.

I think it is time that a really strong, proactive and disciplined second leadership emerges from PTI. Robert Kennedy type ruthlessly sharp, far-sighted, no nonsense type figure who can veto things. It is so extraordinary how he managed his brother, his policies, his friends and his enemies around him when he was busy having affairs. It is all good and dandy to have larger than life vision and faith in the final project, but sometimes you need to sit down and manage people and take care of the details.
