Apart from returning the greetings what if your christian neighbors send you a christmas cake. will you accept it and eat it?
if it tastes good..yeah
lol
And just to add, you can substitute "merry" for "happy" as some people do, and we wish people of other faiths "happy x" all the time. Happy Kwanza, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Eid, Happy Holidays.
We get these sort of posts every christmas, thangsgiving, halloween, diwali etc... If your friend is celebrating his /her religious/cultural festival, what is the problem in wishing them a happy/spiritual time? Say they wish u back, what do u lose if u say a thank you even if u r not celebrating? Why do people need fatwas for basic decency or common curtsy ?
I heard from one of my brother-in-law's friend when he visited last year around this time that saying merry Christmas to anyone is like confirming that you believe in Jesus being the son of god (nao-zu-billah)
I really didnt know that this was such a big issue for muslims.
What does Merry Christmas mean?
If we disregard for a second if Jesus AS was born on that day or not, other than that dont we consider him as a prophet? When you yourself are not celebrating that event, and some one utters Merry Christmas to you, whats the problem if we reply back? Doesnt Innamul Amaal Biniyyat hold here?
Innam Al amalu Binnayat ...
First Your Amal should be correct and then you will have to correct your Nayyat... If Your action "Amal " Wrong What is the benifit of your nayyat......In the given hadees first is amal and then nayyat ......both are compulsory to be right any one of that should not be wrong.
