For me, it is a matter of finding the truth by consulting Holy Scripture. If one of my religious belief does not strengthen (not damaging even) the relations with non-Muslims that does not mean I am being intolerant to non-Muslims.
Unless you have, terms like "other faiths”, you have to care about some lines drawn by Allah (SWT)
Please quote a verse from Quran or hadith specifically banning this? If you yourself don't believe in their Christian beliefs, nothing will happen to your iman by saying Merry Christmas to Christians...
^ it would not easy to digest for many people if I quote Quraan in this regard, most likey it would be considered a hate spreading material. so would refer to my post #35
Surah Maryam 19 :88-92
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."
You have done an atrocious thing. The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.
And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.
in the presence of all these verses, if you even want to Merry Christmas, I would say your are strenghening the relations but not your own belief.

Where does this ayat forbid against saying Merry Christmas?
Where does this ayat forbid against saying Merry Christmas?
And say if one says so how does he lose his iman?
you want to find exact words, and I dont have those.
when you come accross a failure to achieve a business thing, I bet you cannot say your boss that you didnt tell me boss what exactly you meant.... you didnt explained me everything in details its your fautl boss!
howerver its upto you dear...
I really didnt know that this was such a big issue for muslims.
What does Merry Christmas mean?
If we disregard for a second if Jesus AS was born on that day or not, other than that dont we consider him as a prophet? When you yourself are not celebrating that event, and some one utters Merry Christmas to you, whats the problem if we reply back? Doesnt Innamul Amaal Biniyyat hold here?
Besides we use this ayat as a justification to not say Merry Christmas:

But conveniently ignore the event in which the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam) allowed christians who had come to visit him to pray in the mosque.
That was tolerance, I dont know what we have converted our religion into due to our own skewed interpretations.

Prophet Muhammad , was so accommodating of Christians that according to the two earliest Islamic historians, Ibn e Saad and Ibn Hisham, the Prophet even allowed a delegation of 60 Byzantine Christians from Najran in Yemen to worship in his own mosque in Madinah. Lead by their bishop (Usquf), they had come to discuss a number of issues with him. When time of their prayer came, they asked the Prophet's permission to perform this in the mosque. He answered, "conduct your service here in the mosque. It is a place consecrated to God." Unquote.
why do little things like this matter? have you never had someone of another faith say eid or ramadan mubarak to you? my friends always remember to text me. and in return i text them merry christmas. not everything needs to become so complicated. it's a matter of simple respect/being kind.
No. Because that fatwa would just be extending the meaning of Simple two words of merry Christmas.
I am not saying one go all over the town and start saying Merry Christmas in Christian country or areas or at work just to show 'friendliness'.
But if it comes to that situation that the person has to greet on personal level then why not?
One has to be clear of one's intention and be done with.
Keep the issue simple and not make it so complicated.
what a contradiction, you came up with a fatwa and then said you would not agree to another fatwa given by by same school of thought. dewana! I would respect you comments but your post containing fatwa was for defeating me in discussion not for convincing me.
I would have posted a lot of questions but would agree with your last sentence, so let us not make it complicated :)
You found one link, good for you, but considering that many Jews have no issues celebrating Christmas, while we’re wondering if it’s okay to wish someone Merry Christmas, one has to put things into perspective.
Being a religious minority in a country means you have to put up with some customs that may make you uncomfortable. If you are bothered by small things like that, then move. Simple. Do you think Pakistani Christians get all bent out of shape if someone says Eid Mubarak to them?
