I had it once on regular basis and I may say, its best for loosing weight! I took it for almost 4 to 5 months.. and put off about 7kg of my weight!! The best thing about is, it burns your fat inches wise.. wherever it finds fats on your body, it will cut it off.... it helps shaping your body...!!
I used to take Tapal Lemon Green Tea and used to take it twice a day. Its been said, you should never take it more than 3 to 4 cups a day. Also when you are TTC or pregnant, dont take it and the reason why I am not taking it is I am TTC :)
Also, you should take it within half hour of your meal taken so that it can burn the calories and doesnt allow them to effect your body.
I have moreover read, the genuine Green Tea which is available in market under no name but is actually a sort of Jari Boti is most effective, haven't experienced it but I think after having a baby, I will defo go for it as at that time, I will require to put off my weight urgently :)
Good Luck!
Re: Green tea
So, i shouldn't be taking it?
Re: Green tea
why not?? only if you are TTC then I must say, quit it for a period or consult your gynae!! but my suggestion would be, dont take it if you r pregnant or ttc!! :)
Re: Green tea
I have a friend whose mother is a ob/gyn, and she has also said that while trying to conceive you should not be drinking green tea. I dont know the reason behind it though. If you are trying to lose weight, then it is fine.
Re: Green tea
Green tea is absolutely wonderful. It is packed with one of the rare antioxident ECGC. Black tea doesnt have ECGC because it goes through a high temperature processing, and this antioxident is fragile. Do a quick google search of ECGC and you will find out that it has a long list of benefits, from cholesterol reduction in blood to curing cancer, etc.
Middle eastern stores carry some of the best quality green teas. Try green tea with original pure honey. I am amazed at how easily available is pure honey now. The other day I saw pure, unfiltered, uncooked, untouched 100 % pure honey at wal-mart.

I doubt if there is any con for green tea. However, green tea is super awesome for ya're health. My mom makes afghan green tea ever at night after dinner..and i tell ya it is awesome..
Re: Green tea
I used to drink 5-8 cups a day of (usually) green tea (but occasionally also black tea). Now I have few cups only on the weekends because I have no time to prepare it.
Like others mentioned, it has numerous health benefits including weight loss. But to get the full benefits (i.e. from antioxidants) you have to brew it properly. Much of the antioxidant content is lost by improper brewing (i.e. brewing too long or not long enough). Tea-bags are processed and contain the least of the nutrients. The major antioxidant content of green tea, however, is not fully absorbed by the intestines (may be only ~20% of it enters the bloodstream). Complementing the intake with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) significantly helps absorb more of the major antioxidants, hence the ancient tradition of serving tea with a slice of lemon.
You can have it any time of the day, but for weight loss the best time is right after eating. The catechins in the tea inhibit intestinal absorption of lipids (fatty acids).
Also try white tea if it is available in your locale. It has the highest concentration of antioxidants than any other tea because it is completely unprocessed. It does, however, have a very strong taste.
Black tea - fully fermented
Green tea - semi-fermented
White tea - unfermented
For the full benefit, you have to use loose-leaf teas and brew them accordingly (every tea type has a different brewing time). The finest green teas, in my opinion, are Chinese and Japanese.
I have no idea how it affects pregnancies. You'd have to consult a doctor for that.
I also do not know of any cons (save one) of consuming green tea - I don't think there are any (and that is with considering the caffeine content). But consuming improperly brewed teas can be quite detrimental to the health, because this gives rise to tannins during the brewing process. Tannins can cause a wide array of health complexities including ENT cancers in more severe cases.
Drinking tea irregularly or only occasionally, however, has shown in studies to cause a low white blood cell count. This effect is omitted in regular consumption, according to the similar studies.

Fermentation (or oxidation) of green tea leaves to black tea depletes the ECGC (not completely) but produces two major polyphenol antioxidants: theaflavin and thearubigin. These are also very powerful antioxidants (and give the tea a dark-reddish color), but ECGC is still more potent.
Re: Green tea
White tea? I've never heard about it.
Re: Green tea
the reason why green tea isnt good for TTC or pregnant women is because it kills folic acid (You must take it if you are preg or trying, very much essential for babies)
Re: Green tea
Green tea is a natural remedy and helpful for pain and alternative medical issues.Another benefit of greem tea is weight lossing green tea has contains nutrients, minerals and vitamins.
Re: Green tea
Green tea is high in antioxidants and contains little caffeine only. It also contains an amino acid called Theanine which should have a calming affect. In fact you can now buy Theanine as a supplement in capsule form. A "chill pill" really exists lol
Re: Green tea
what about the Green tea pills which are available in the market nowadays?? is it the same as drinking green tea?? Any side-effects??
Do they even work??
WOuld appreciate if someone could please throw some light into this.
