Green Tea

Hello,

I have been drinking about 6 cups a green tea a day, 5 days a week. Is that too much? Am I over doing it?

I don’t seem to get any extra energy out of it, though I do not feel exhausted on days I normally would when I only get 4-5 hours of sleep. However I have no jitters or bouncing off the wall energy.

Are there any risks in drinking too much green tea?

no risk from drinking 6 cups a day coz green virtually got no calories. its an antioxidant that helps metabolism to keep working at pace and keeps our digestion at ease. i usually drink 3 cups a day (mint and lemon flavor :))
btw when i get 4/5 hours of sleep (which i am gonna get today since i have to wake up at 7am and its already 2:30) i drink black coffee with one extra table spoon of coffee and man it keeps me fresh like race horse for at least till noon. but i wont recommend it to you coz green tea is better and black coffee got a nasty taste...

I have gotten 5-6 hours of sleep for the past 4 days, and it has really catched up to me today. bohot nini ah rahi hain :(

I'm about to finish up my first cup of green tea. I usually drink chai in the morning but I skipped it today, I am about to grab some black tea. I need to wake up.

Is that a bad combo? chai/coffee in the morning and than 6 cups of green tea through out the day?

i read that drinking too much green tea in one day isnt good for you. i usually drink one cup a day..once i drank 3, and got a nose bleed :S.

i think ur over doing it alongwith coffee/blacktea..stick to 2 cups max try drinkin water instead of extra cups of green tea ..though its good for u its packed with antioxidants but keep ur intake moderate..i only take 1 large mug of greentea at night..n have coffee in the morning

Glamdoll, the reason why I drink so much is because I have to drink something hott while I am in front of the computer at kaam surfing GS lol.

I have noticed it helps keep my hydrated curbs hunger and cravings and prevents me from snacking. I feel normal not tired and sluggish even when I have gotten little sleep.

Do you have any articles or references to back up your opinion?

no articles but its too much caffeine for a day thats y..i have anxiety problem so i cant have that much caffeine

On most websites I've read that it's recommended to drink it 3 times a day. 6 is much in my opinion. You do need other foods as well. Green tea has a load of health benefits, but it's also known to block absorption of iron....which our body really needs. An iron deficiency can make you lethargic/tired, dizzy....even more so during your period as you're losing iron through blood.

I would suggest cutting down on the green tea....and also incorporating other foods (fruits, protein, dark green veggies). And combine the healthy diet with the exercise if you're trying to lose weight.

based on the article that Umar posted, it does state that drinking too much can prevent your body absorbing iron and folic acid, and you should avoid drinking i during pregnancy. But it also stated that if you are drinking it in between meals you should be ok. I usually drink it in between breakfest and lunch, and after lunch. Do you think drinking 6 cups and spacing it out between meals would cause a risk?

Does anyone else have any other articles.
