Hi
Has anyone here been in a situation where by you are british female, would you marry a guy from Pakistan outside the family you met him here whilst he was on a student visa/work permit..would you consider marrying a guy who does not live here permanently…are their intentions genuine to settle down with you or is a green card just to get british visa to settle here…

maybe u shud be asking this question to urself as u knw him better...and knw of his intentionz... but sister if he is working here and is doing well for himself...he dnt really need help to get a british visa...as it is very easy for students studying in the uk to do this...as their records will show tht he/she is interested in working here!
i had a very gud friend..she was frm nigeria and she had applyd for the british citiznshp and visa..and she got it alhamdulillah! so there isn't any reason y he wud need u to get a green card? or british visa:)
but ur having doubts so its best u shud ask him wat his intentions r and y he wants to be with u...:)

Why would you need a green card to live in UK? Isn't that an American thing?
But yes I would be a little weary about someone wanting to marry me just to get British citizenship. It all depends on how well you know that person.

I cant say dont do it because Ive seen the most unexpected couples happen.
I have a family friends who was anything but the typical desi guy. He was born and raised in the US. He partied, had a horrible reputation, dropped out of school (went back later and finished), dated, DJ'd for a living but guess what? He married a girl from India...went to India and got married there. He just had a beautiful baby girl (Mashallah) two weeks ago and is the happiest he has ever been! You can tell from a mile away he wouldnt change a thing about his life and its wonderful to see him that way.
There are success stories...you just have to be REALLY careful.

well without knowing such person, i have been in this situation but i never got married for only this reason in UK. ie i never needed anyone to give me oppertunity to live and work here.
many people like me can do that only on abilities, I was a student here, after finishing my Masters, I got a job and work permit myself and citizenship without marrying someone, then i got married for the reason of marrying only not anyother.
If he has finished or about to finish a good degree from a good uni, and will have good chance to live and work. BTW all students now get 2 years work visa after graduation, in this two years if he is able to get the job in his own field not a micky mouse one, in this case he will not be trying to catch bird to get him visa.
if he is on work permit and has professional job(imean the real job he suppose to do), then there is LESS chance that he is interested in you just cause of visa.
with UK getting strict with even permits extension and everyone has to score points everytime they apply for extension of visa, many of work permits/HSMP finding it hard to score according to visa as they work on substandard jobs not highly professional one they expected to do, hence low salary,tax and low points, meaning end of visa here eventually.
there are few people who may seek visa to live and work here through marriage due to above reason, many of them will stay with the partner after getting the status.
many students who seek marriage for visa, either they havnt studied at all or just enrolled in fake college here while they were here and only worked in odd jobs, for them its easy to get status and do something permanent here. some has good reasons to do that cause of finances required to study here, some want to start a new life, in those there will be some good and some bad as its correct for all humans.
