Does anyone know the average wait time for sponsoring parents on a green card to the US? They are in Pak now. We are wondering about how long from the time petition is submitted to the time they are given the visa to come here.
Thanks.

Re: green card
Depends on whether or not the people filing the sponsorship are US citizens or Permanent Residents. Your location in the US also makes a difference.
Here’s the link to the processing times for all the different applications at USCIS.
Re: green card
if you have a greencard and you are applying for parents..well that will take a while then..i think its better if you become a citizen first and then apply for ur parents
Re: green card
we are both citizens
Thanks for the info.
Re: green card
I've heard from others around 8 years...
Re: green card
It is my understanding that parents are like spouse or child, and don't need to wait. Has anyone been through this process with a spouse? If so, what was the average wait time?

Re: green card
If your parents are past 60 they should have no problem getting their GCs in 180 days from the time you submit the DS7 forms. Just find a good lawyer to handle the paperwork for you - a $ 200 expense at the most. Also, the Nebraska INS office processes paper faster than other ones. But then, if you go to a lawyer, he/she would advise you on that.
Hope your parents join you soon.
