Green Belt - 6 Sigma

Anyone here in the QA field and has done the Greenbelt certification. How hard/easy was your process through it and getting certified.

A little frustrated right now, I missed the 1st Greenbelt training session my company is offering, and when 2nd is available, I will be away on maternity leave. Regardless I plan on doing some self study in my free time, to get ready if its available when I return. I know you have to work on a project from inception to completion, that is fine, I have that background and can easily get onto a project if I am able to get the training. Just want information from people who are green belt/black belt certified…and what types of companies you work for.

Re: Green Belt - 6 Sigma

i am also thinking about getting certified. Do share any resources you come across

Re: Green Belt - 6 Sigma

In greenbelt project right now.

Re: Green Belt - 6 Sigma

got GB certified a few years ago while working at GE as part of a corporate portal implementation project… haven’t had a chance thereafter to work on a six sigma project.

am planning to get BB certified in the next 2 years inshaAllah.

The best way to get certified is thruogh your employer, but if you’re doing it yourself, then check out ASQ (http://www.asq.org/) for a BOK, certification exams etc.

Re: Green Belt - 6 Sigma

I am green belt certified. The program is challenging as your project will be considered close after your sponsor signs off, and if the stated objectives are met, then you are certified. However, the project might still be under observation (control phase) and I think it might be as long as 6 months to an year before you can get certified.

If your project is dealing with lot of data analysis, then knowledge of statistics will help. If your project is purely design and experiment oriented, then advanced knowledge of design of experiments will help.

Working on it
You can get some useful tips from ASQ's 6-sigma chapter as Umar has said

Re: Green Belt - 6 Sigma

Thank you for the information guys, I appreciate it. Well I work for an Insurance company, and our IT team provides support to the managers/users of our internal systems. I work in the QA team, and would attain a project along those lines. I just know about having to work out the Project charter....and plan out details of testing plan based on Business Requirements Documents. I will definitely be reading up on this site, and hopefully some others.
