Greek yoghurt is easily available in N. America and often not much difference pricewise but in the east it is available in higher end supermarkets and stores and the price difference is also a lot.
I used to make it at home, and it turned out super. Just take any regular yoghurt and put it in muslin (malmal cloth) and tie it to the sink tap or a cabinet with a bowl underneath to collect all the water. I usually used to leave it overnight in the fridge (coz the kitchen would get hot in the summers and the yoghurt would get bad) and in the morning I would have greek yoghurt. Hope that helps.
