**AMEER KHUSRO ( 1253-1325 )
Khusro was a great Persian poet and the poineer of Urdu Ghazal. He remained associated with various royal courts most part of his life, but retained humility and simplicity of character in a true Sufi tradition.
Khawaja Nizamuddim Auliya --- one of the greatest Muslim saints --- had profound influence on Khusro. The spritual teachings and guidance of Khwaja Nizamuddin inspired him to blend mysticism and psychic realism in his romantic poetry.
**He composed verses in a refreshing style, using new idioms and metaphors. His couplets often consisted a line each in Urdu and Persian. **
The pathos in his Ghzals has universal relevance and his poetry still echoes in the shrines of Muslim saints all over the subcontinent.
Besides being a poet, a prose-writer and a linguist, Khusro (actual name in history is referred as KHUSRAW), was also a peerless musician. He possessed intimate knowledge of the musical traditions of the musical traditions of South and West-Asia. He revived Indian Ragas and instruments, which remain in vogue.
