Inspired by Ahmadjee’s thread “greatest inventions of all time.” Who do you think deserves to be on the list?
Don’t just name the person, tell us why you think they should be honored among other legends.
I truly think Mohammad :saw: deserves the very first slot on the list. What he did all his life was something nobody else could do. He showed so much courage, will power, respect, and dignity in whatever he did; he never held grudges even against his own enemies. Won’t you agree?
Religious figures aside, I think Einstein was probably the most amazing man of the century, he made science so much easier for us dummies to understand (to say the least).
OFFCOURSE a politician is a human but u cannot term them as the greatest of all,
only the poeple who are the greatest of all are nabi’s and rasool and
as pbuh was therasool and as well as the nabi hence he is the best of among the humans,
and hence he is the greatest of all among the humans.
Rasools and nabis are not considered by me as all of them deserve to be here on the list and I must choose one.
They (Rassols and Nabbis) tend to build nations some how (but they are not limited to it)and Jinnah did the same. He build the best nation of modern times. Without him who could ever had heard the nation called Pakistani.
Why can’t a politican be among the greatest? Religious figures shaped our lives and so did the politicians like Jinnah. What you are telling me is that no matter what a nonreligious person did, he/she shouldn’t be honored as heroes. Why do you define greatness by religion?
Theoretical physics. Einstein never had real education, it all came to him through experiments, imagination, and pretty much his logic. Hence, we think he was a genius. His theories (relativity, photon theory of light, equivalence of energy and mass, Brownian (sp?) motion in liquids) opened the door to the world of real science -physics.
Mohammad (PBUH) deserves the first slot on every list.
But I believe more people should be on this list. : Bernouillli , Copernicus , Lorenz and various others. All have made a tremendous contribution to science.
Or are we talking about just one century?
But I agree. Einstein thought in more then one dimension.
Hmm... apart from the prophets, here are some persons i consider great enough.
Socrates. [for showing extra-ordinary courage to speak for what he considered to be the truth, and to pave the way for future philosophers and freedom of speech.]
Omer ibn Khatab [for the expansion and administration of the great Islamic Empire.]
Liebniz [for his works in philosophy and science.]
David Hume [for bringing empiricism to its logical climax.]
Kant [for his revolutionary views in philosophy]
Darwin [for the idea of evolution which has affected science and philosophy in thousands of ways]
Bertrand Russell [for his philosophical works]
Newton [science]
Galileo [science]
Einstein [modern physics]
G.A. Perwez [for his extra-ordinary work on Islam]
Obviously, these are personal choices. So, it doesn't really matter if others agree with it or not.
