You may have read the passing away of William Buckley Jr last week. While I used to think of him as a conceited ass, I always admired his prose. Every piece he wrote was literature.
Cowasjee, while he doesn’t go for flowery and impressive language gymnastics (even Buckley didn’t, it is just that his knowledge of the word so precise that his usage attempted at precision, felt like bombastic to mere mortals such as me) is of a similar breed. His topic selection, flow of ideas and underlying humanity can be witnessed in every piece I have read in the Dawn. For example look at today’s article titled No shaming the shameless - see how rapidly and summarizing he brings together un-linkable ideas into one devastating bombshell at the end! Hats off
I wish we had more writers like him and that he would someone like him to criticise Indian government also for this sort of misdemeanors!
