Great Leaders

After Prophet saw, if i can think of the best leader to have lead its nation, was Omer Bin Abdul Aziz. Who single handedly transformed a brutal government into one that took care of its citizen.

I feel that his leadership was greater than that of Omer Bin Khattab ra, for Omar Bin Khattab ra built on the work of two great leaders before him.

Share other great leaders of present and past.

Re: Great Leaders

It would not be a good idea to mix up the religious leaders of the past with the trash of today. Apples to apples please

Re: Great Leaders

Margarate Thatcher.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Two great leaders that presided over a period of great transformation for their nation. Their strong leadership and conviction of belief was a key to their success.

Re: Great Leaders

Re: Great Leaders

good point Iconoclast....Umar bin abdul aziz is called as "Khilafat-e-Rashida Ka Panchawa Satoon"....

He was one of the unique man of human history...his caliphate was on 3 continents...and he used to wear kurta having 7 patches....

regarding umar(ra)...both have unique features...umar(ra) wasv the greatest conquerer..and one more interseting thing....Umar bin abdul aziz was "Parnawasa" of umar(ra)....so he kept his way....

umar bin abdul aziz..when governor of madina ..used to wear 70 clothes in aday...his clothes used to come on long camel caravan..and when he became caliph...he took all the estates and tresures of Ummayads which were his kith and kin by force...people shouted that they are your blood relations..but he turned down everyone request....

he was one the golden fgure of human history...From 99 to 101 Hijri...only 2 years....but in his regime...not evena single beggar used to wander in streets as so much welfare state ...comprising of 3 continents.....

Re: Great Leaders

Ronald Reagan seems like the most charismatic leader of the past three decades to me :hmmm:

Re: Great Leaders

Iconoclast,

Here is the story of three great leaders........

General Musharaf, Vajpayee, Aishwarya Rai and Margaret
Thatcher are sitting in a train

The train suddenly goes through a tunnel and it gets
completely dark.
Suddenly there is a kissing sound and then a slap

The train comes out of the tunnel. Both women and Gen
Musharraf are sitting there looking perplexed

Vajpayee is bent over holding his face, which is red
from an apparent slap

All of them remain diplomatic and nobody says anything

Thatcher is thinking:
"These Indians are all crazy after Aishwarya. Vajpayee
must have tried to kiss her in the tunnel. Very proper
that she slapped him"

Aishwarya is thinking:
"Vajpayee must have moved to kiss me, and kissed
Margaret instead and got slapped"

Vajpayee is thinking:
"Damn it, Musharraf must have tried to kiss Aishwarya,
she must have thought it was me and slapped my face"

Musharraf is thinking:
"If this train goes through another tunnel, I could
make another kissing sound and slap Vajpayee again

Re: Great Leaders

Vajypayee's driver is driving along a back country road on the way back
to Patna, when all of a sudden a pig jumps out in front of the car. The
pig dies on the spot. Vajpayee, upset, tells the chauffeur to go find
the owner of the piglet so that he can pay for the damages. The driver
is gone for two hours and when he comes back, he has a bag full of
money, and a wondering look on his face. Vajapayee wants to know what happened.

The driver tells him "Hum jab gaaon me pahuncha to dekha kuch log perh ke neeche baithe hain. Jub hum unko bataya ki kya hua hai, tab sare log jama ho gaye. Humko laga ki aaj to hamari pitayee hogee. Par hum dekha ki sare log paisa jama kar rahe hain. Hum socha ki ye sara paisa woh janvar ke malik ke liye hai. Par un logon ne saara paisa hamein de diya.

"Vajpayee says "Theek theek batao. Tum unko kya bola tha?"

The driver replies "Hum kaha ki hum Vajapayee ka driver hoon aur hum
sooar ka bachcha ko maar diya hoon."

Re: Great Leaders

I think Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain were the most influential leaders of world history - due to their work - the tiny europe spread their religion, goegraphy and wealth (rather occupied others wealth) to entire world. And this influence is so much so that the superiority of the west can hardly be challenged for next 1000 years to come.
