Ofcourse terrain is important factor but Balochistan’s mountainous and vast terrain should be as much useful as FATA’s. Terrrain of Gilgat-baltistan and kashmir are more difficult and helpful than FATA and balochistan yet we do not see warrior class people there, they are peaceful teddy bears.
Mountainous terrain helped pashtuns to develop strong physique and stamina which helped them in hand-to-hand fights in old times…But with advent of guns and artillary, they faced troubles in wining wars…so they adopted themselves to mountainous guerrella tactics…aimal khan mohamand and darya khan afridi completely annihilated two huge mughal armies in tirah valley…British had to mobilize more than 50000 troops to subdue afridis in tirah campaign of 1897 and lost 1200 soldiers in the process…
Bravery is facing enemy in open, you do that while enemy has Jets, tanks and artillary, then you are done for…but taking advantage of terrain is neither cowardice , because if we start thinking in that prospective then a soldier protected in armored vehicle or tank is also coward…so is pilot droping bombs from jet.
