“Great Irani Scholar and peot “FERDOUS JAMAL” (1623-1705) wrote about Baloch in these words”
“Baloch loves fighting, but hates to be a soldier. loves music, but has a great contempt for musician. He is kind, loving and gentle but hates to show it.Hot blooded, hot headed, poor but proud. With strange principles, he loves his new weapons and old wife.He will die but never step back from his words. He is a loving and sincere friend but deadly enemy”.

Interesting description. :k:
Seems true that inspite of being warrior, they didn’t have a long invasion history like Pathan and other tribes from the region.
Balochi Music is just
High beat but soothing.

enlighten us with such invasions, as popular version of history do talk about resistance of Balochs against British, etc but not active invasions. Were there any Baloch dynasties outside Balochistan like we have Lodhis, Suri, etc in case of Pathans

Good point about not being ruled by the others. But Talpur rule was limited to Sindh and Talpur themselves didn't recognise them as a Baloch dynasty. Correct me, if I'm wrong.
Moreover, after conquest of Makran by Arabs, they were ruled by Arabs. This gives rise to another question. Do Balochs consider people of Makran (Makranis / Sheedi) as Baloch or not?

so who were the original inhabitants of Balochistan at the time of Arab conquest and before. The oldest civilization of sub-continent is in Mehr-gaRh Balochistan, but if Baloch came much later (even after Arabs), then it (Mehr garH civilisation) can't be termed as Baloch civilisation.

History of Baloch starts about 7000 BC in mehr garh. There were people living in the area before Arab invasion like muqqawwee has pointed out.

well we baloch always fought for islam so Allah gifted Baluchistan to us now it only belongs to baloch

I was reading a book by a british. He was saying that balochs are brave but they fight in open in conventional way so they are easily dealt with. On the other hand pashtuns are more tactical and clever in their attacks, their warfare might not fit into traditional concepts of bravery.
Today is same situation, baloch rebels can not even handle paramilitary force like FC while Taliban have killed more than 5500 faujis and 8000 paramilitary forces through guerrella warfare. a captain in army was telling me that in recent tirah operation, more than 20 SSG commandos were killed by taliban in single attack when they were ambushed. i am not glorifying taliban but faujis themselves admit that it is difficult to fight with taliban on their terrain without air support.

Not downplaying their bravery but the terrain is an important factor too.

Ofcourse terrain is important factor but Balochistan's mountainous and vast terrain should be as much useful as FATA's. Terrrain of Gilgat-baltistan and kashmir are more difficult and helpful than FATA and balochistan yet we do not see warrior class people there, they are peaceful teddy bears.
Mountainous terrain helped pashtuns to develop strong physique and stamina which helped them in hand-to-hand fights in old times........But with advent of guns and artillary, they faced troubles in wining wars.....so they adopted themselves to mountainous guerrella tactics.......aimal khan mohamand and darya khan afridi completely annihilated two huge mughal armies in tirah valley......British had to mobilize more than 50000 troops to subdue afridis in tirah campaign of 1897 and lost 1200 soldiers in the process.....
Bravery is facing enemy in open, you do that while enemy has Jets, tanks and artillary, then you are done for.................but taking advantage of terrain is neither cowardice , because if we start thinking in that prospective then a soldier protected in armored vehicle or tank is also coward......so is pilot droping bombs from jet.
