Great Experience at Local Shop

Last week I posted about having to buy an outfit for a wedding I’m attending in a few weeks. I went to a local store a few days ago and wanted to post about my experience there in case anyone in the same town needs to buy an outfit locally. I don’t know any desi girls in real life so it was nerve wrecking to have to buy an outfit with my BF!

I’m in TX (Htown to be more specific). I went to several places on Hilcroft…I ended up purchasing from a place called “Princess…the royal collection”. The owners (husband/wife) were very patient and I never felt pressured. I ended up buying 2 outfits. One of the outfits needs major alterations due to my petite size. The 2nd one needs sleeves added on. They’ll do all the alterations and I’ll pick up the outfits in a week.

I know most of you are lucky enough to be able to purchase your outfits from back home…so I just wanted to share my experience with a local shop…so in case anyone else is “stuck” here like me, I’d highly recommend this shop.

Re: Great Experience at Local Shop

^ good to hear abt ur good expereince. Does this place carry pakkistani style or indian style outfits?

The place is owned by a Ismaili couple (Saw pics of their Imam; I believe they're Pakistani). They had a blend of both styles. I bought a anarkali style churidaar suit that's more "Pakistani" style....and a salwar kameez that's "Indian" style.

On a side note, I also went to "Poshak" but was dissappointed by their selection and customer service. Another store called "Dolly's Boutique" had great selection and customer service, but was overpriced compared to "Princess".

^ oh i have been to Poshak...they over charge like crazy...and there was a time when they wouldn't let u try on the outfit either.

Oh wow....that's crazy! I can't imagine spending hundreads on a outfit without trying it on!

At Poshak, there were 2 girls who were helping me...they seemed like they were early to mid 20's. Maybe it's b/c of their age but they just weren't very informed about outfits. The "aunties" at the 2 other stores just knew more and had a better understanding of what I wanted. In addition, at Poshak, the girl told me that their tailor is going "back home" for vacation for like 6 months...so she couldn't give me any time frame for alterations!!!!
