Maybe no contact from grandparents wouldn't be such a bad thing should they want it that way. Why force children to have a bond with grandparents.
no.....I disagree.......contact is important.
children are quite resilient and adaptable.....you are not harming them by exposing them.
you will, however, harm them by keeping them away.
My grandma (dadi) never loved me. my naniyal side showered me with that extra love.. but still after growing up i do wish my dadi loved me. even as a child i used to long to see that affection my cousin's dadi s used to give them.. may be coz i lived here and got all that exposure. :(
seeing my life i fear my kids would also wud be deprived of grandma 's love.. thats sad thou! :(
I think it is always hard being someone's first daughter in law or son in law as it takes some getting used to.
So long as you are happy with your husband then the rest shouldn't matter. It seems like you have a very narrow minded mother in law....who you need to ignore as much as possible...after your brother in law is married she will be too busy with her new daughter in law...so you can relax to some extent.
