unfortunately, this great duet of Rafi N Asha was NOT used in the movie, “Neela Aakaash”, for which it was created. i LOVED this song…i heard this for teh FIRST time.
the above song was dropped in favor of the following song. the reason given was that they wanted lighter music and easy-to-understand language of the lyric…what a lame excuse.

If I may, I have a story to share re this movie.
During those days, parents took us only to mythological movies - Mahabharata, Sampoorna Ramayana, Lug aur Kush, Veer Hanuman etc. We were walking in the streets of Calcutta. There was this billboards of Neela Akash. Blue sky. In the background, a painting of Shiva. Parents thought it was a religious movie. Rest is history.

Yes. The movie industry opened up after that. We got to see some real movies.

To the best of my memory, 1966?
you are right i guess because 60's was Bollywood's most lyrical and musical decades with giants like Chitragupta, Roshan, Naushad, Khaiyaam, OP Naiyar etc. i LOVE that decade for lovely Asha/Rafi duets.

Yes. The slide started circa 1982 and lasted through 2000. Then we started getting good songs - Dil se kabhi Kyushu kabhi gam Bombay roja devdas guru

i agree…here is a gem for you…i’m sure you will like it…
the maestro, Madan Mohan, is singing three antras himself for the movie “Dastak” which was an experimental movie made by none other than Shyam Benegal who married the actress Rehana Sultan…my bro tells she was from my neighbourhood in Allahabad.
