I tried searching for this but for some reason it returned no matches.
Anyhow, i need to take the GRE in the next few months. Last time i took it, i used the Barron’s guide only and i remember it was good for the vocab and the analytical section but the math portion wasnt that great. What are the prep materials that you guys have found helpful? Kaplan, Princeton, Arco : any or all of the above or more?!
Please share your other experiences as well. Btw i plan to take it before they change the format in September InshaAllah.
I guess no one has any advice to share. I will be using Barron's for english vocab and Kaplan for test taking tips and techniques. Will have to resort to multiple books for the math portion practice. I will report back with what I find helpful.
I also used barron's for my GRE prep. I found the math portion to be extremely useful because they had an entire section that was just math review. I memorized all the words that were on the frequent list (333 words) and yet to me it seemed as if none of those words were on the GRE. As far as the essay portion goes, there are examples of a 5 and 6 rated essay on the gre website and also in the GRE's own book by ETS. My sister used Kaplan's book for her preparation and found it to be more useful than Barrons. Good luck!
Barron's and Kaplan are just excellent for GRE preparation. There was another book for vocabulary that I took from the library, I can't recall the name right now but I will tell you on phone.
Also, there is a prep book out there by ETS and is available at most libraries.. go over that one as well.
In a nutshell, I would say staying at the library for a few hours daily and going through the material that is available there would help you a lot.
