Graves in the Holy Land

My Imam once told me that due to lack of space the graves in Mecca and Medina are re-usable concrete graves, the interiors are plastered. He said they place the body in there after funeral-prayers with some chemical on it and that chemical dissolves the body so that the grave can be re-used some time later.

At first it freaked me out but now that I think of it the body disintegrates anyway and if they’re using a naturally occuring substance it’s only speeding up that process. With the lack of space in the world it might not be such a bad idea.

Has anyone else heard of this? Is it true? Are there any bones etc. left over, and if so what do they do with them?

Re: Graves in the Holy Land

Really? Never heard of that. Try some google search to find out cause this claim does not sound plausible.

We know that Jannat-ul-Baqi is a regular graveyard. They dont mark the graves so after a while, grave can be used for another burial, but disintegration of the body happens naturally, not through chemicals.
