Is it true that eating grape fruits burn calories? It does not have lesser calorie count as a fruit but i have heard people saying it helps reduce weight when taken on regular basis.
How much of it is true? Any experiences?

as far as I know its all a myth.
Lets see if somebody could solve this myth :) ..... if its a myth that is.May be someone here at GS has some experience to share with us?
webmd suggests that it is a sham..
First, does grapefruit have a special fat-burning enzyme? No. There is no scientific basis to the claim that grapefruit is special in this way. Grapefruit is a good food, but so are other healthy foods like vegetables and other fruits.
I ve heard it's good for those who have diabetes...they squeeze the juice out and drink everyday...It's specially healthy.
That is correct. As Fraudz pointed out, Grapefruits have enzymes which can help to burn fat. One should eat around half a grapefruit before every meal to reap the benefits of these fat burning enzymes.
Fraudz: thanx for the contribution. What i understand from this is they dont find any scientific logic behind grapefruit eating could burn fat directly. This was the point i was much curious about, cuz i always thought grape fruit is another fruit like orange or kino.
Fret: As the article said, may be those ppl who follow this diet of eating half a grape fruit with every meal, lose wt because thier total calorie count is quite low and not because of the grapefruit itself. Some one at my gym is very regular with his grape fruit thigie and she is losing weight like anything! thats what made me open this thread :)
kashish some of the super skinny girls in the dorms here eat grape fruit for breakfast with black coffee…i have heard that both those two really help in losing weight…
its also supposed to be really good for ur skin…
i tried but i just dont like its taste ![]()
irem kya super skinny hone ka mood ho raha tha? ![]()

chole sterol :)
It's a bit bitter, but i kinda like it. I peel off the inner skin and then eat it, it's a little messy but tastes good. :p
yeah, i have heard people saying that its good for weight loss so i did my own little research..all i found out that it does have low calorie..but that grapefruit diet like cabbage diet..where you eat grapefruit with all the meals is not a balanced diet..coz i read so many things against it. And all the people that lost weight was due to balanced calorie intake and due the exercise. But then i have also seen grapefruit supplements..so i am not sure if there's something really in grapefruit.
Also, i was reading a text book of aromatherapy..and in it..it says that grapefruit oil..the essential oil is helpful in weightloss..so i have read both negative and positive things...
personally i think..that grapefruit is just like any other citrus fruit.
