ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali on Tuesday said providing Rangers with accountability powers was unconstitutional, adding that the paramilitary force did not have the mandate to conduct such action in Karachi or any other area.
Referring to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s recent call for Rangers to conduct an anti-corruption operation in Punjab, Nisar said he was “surprised” that such a demand came from the leader of a political party.
“Calling upon the Rangers or the army for political scoring is not only synonymous with creating controversy in these institutions, but it will ultimately cause the Karachi operation to shift from its primary motives.”
Nisar said while everyone had the right to express themselves freely, there were certain limits to freedom of speech.
Terming the PTI chief’s demand as “senseless and inappropriate,” the interior minister said it was unwise to bring the role of security forces under question as “any interference in state institutions for political purposes obstructs the survival of the democratic system and weakens it.”
Chaudhry Nisar further said that the Pakistan of today is “far better than what it was in 2013” with peace returning to Karachi and the law and order situation in the country “visibly improving.”
Imran Khan had yesterday demanded “third-party, independent inquiries of mega corruption scams in Punjab” and invited all federal agencies, especially Rangers and NAB, to begin crackdowns against corruption in Punjab and “even in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” where his own party rules.
“Agencies should come to Punjab, and even KP to clean what we have been unable to.
“But it is more important than ever to cleanse Punjab because the biggest scams will be found there,” Imran had said

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

Errr so they have constitutional power in Sindh or have they been breaking the law? MAKE UP YOUR MIND NISAR JI !!!

I expected that pml-n would try to create obstacles in punjab. As I said, sindh was lucky that mqm is opposition and PPP is only in power at the provincial level. I also read another report that noon league was thinking of ‘activating’ NAB and FIA in Punjab as pressure is mounting that if feds are doing accountability, then it should be across the board including for noon league.

What kind of joke is this? In normal and civilized countries, the police goes after everyone. Why is it for the holy emperor nawaz to “entertain” the thoughts of NAB and FIA when they should be independent to begin with? :halo:

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

Are the Rangers police??

Imran Khan is playing a silly game - no one is fooled.

He promised he would end corruption in 90 days…we are still waiting.

Gen.Sharif is doing his job and eliminating terrorists, IK should do his job in KP instead of trying to get the kursi.

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

He said major corruption can be eliminated if top leadership is honest. He is not Prime Minister so your 90 days question is irrelevant. His party is doing a decent job with limited power they have in KPK. Independent Ehtisaab Commission has nabbed ministers, family members of ruling party's MPs etc.

Ch Nisar is one of the better PMLN leaders so i am surprised he is worried about accountability when it comes to Punjab, he didn't make similar comments when MQM and PPP were targets, he should shut up now. If you can't do your job properly, someone will. Nowhere in ideal world Army should be even close to these matters but height of incompetency and greed from politicians has resulted in Army taking matters in their own hands.

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

It is amazing what excuses Pti make up. Pti make up the top leadership of the KP govt - yet there is still the same corruption in KP ministries!

What do you expect when top leadership of Pti are corrupt lotas??

If he ever became PM, the excuses of his failure in govt will start again.

There is no 'Naya KP', this 'Naya Pakistan' slogan of Pti has been proven false - by Imran and the team of lotas he has chosen.

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

You did not get it did you? In Punjab every one is dead honest so there is no need of such action in Punjab. This is what I have been seeing since decades.

a slang from the university days comes to mind; but cant post it here....
but those of you who are familiar will know this;

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

Every party has corrupt people which is not surprising considering we are one of the most corrupt countries in the world. What matters is how a party party deals with corruption and every sane person in Pakistan would agree that Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are never going to to take corruption seriously considering they are undisputed champions of corruption themselves whereas Imran Khan is not only honest, he is serious about tackling corruption as well which makes huge difference.

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

Many years ago, i used to believe that - but if IK is so honest, why has he chosen such corrupt people to lead Pti???

There is no huge govt financial scandal with IK because he has never held office, but his actions show his intentions are the same as SMQ, and his team of lotas.

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

Question to Chay Nisar: haram-khoro.... police, judiciary, NAB ko kaam karnay do to Rangers ki zaroorat kewn paray gee?

Re: Granting accountability powers to Rangers is unconstitutional, says Nisar

Same thing came to my mind when I read title.
Dhooti lagi phatny
