Re: Granite countertop

Use CLR

Re: Granite countertop

You can use vinegar - it will not harm your granite but will remove the sealer that protects it. You can use it, but just remember to re-seal the granite afterward. I would first try TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) from the hardware store. Phosphate will break up hard water stains without damaging the granite.

Re: Granite countertop

I'd use watered down vinegar, not neat - its too harsh

i just need to reseal the granite now

Re: Granite countertop

If your Granite counter gets stained easily by water, it is a sign that the sealer is getting weak. You should look for a trained professional to seal your counter. Try to buff your counter with dry 0000 steel wool then apply poultice to the stain. A poultice made of corn starch or baking soda mixed with water to form a paste may do the trick. Cover the poultice with plastic wrap, and leave it on for 24 hours. Rinse and dry the area. You should look for a trained professional to seal your counter.

Re: Granite countertop

1- granite and marble are both rocks but are not the same, very different in fact.

2- marble stains, scratches, scorched pretty easily, granite does not.
