Very tenaciuos and fighter batsman. One of my favourite players. England committed a mistake by dropping him instead of Bell.

He was one of my favorite batsmen in test cricket. A real fighter and although he did mention that he will be announcing retirement before he was dropped for the first test, I thought he will again fight back and will make his way in the side during Ashes. And yes I also thought that he will replace bell in the side.
Since his return to the side in 2003 he was playing consistently with an average above 50. I was really looking forward to see him playing against Australia and Pakistan this year. Its a shame that such a great player has left in an unceremonious manner.

Very boring and chipkoo batsman. I won't miss him but I wish him best of luck in his retirement.

Rightly said boring and chipkoo batsman and i guess that is what Englad need for the Ashes.
