Graduating...yes?...no?

Some of us are finishing with our degrees, others are close, while others are still starting, how do you people see yourselves?

For some odd reason as much as I worry about my studies, and stress over exams, its one of the things I enjoy to my hearts content. Lectures, projects, exams. And as soon as summer hits, I get this weird feeling of unrest. I find it impossible to just relax and enjoy myself. I constantly need something to do.

InshAllah I will be teaching, so that will keep me busy, but I dont think theres ever been a summer where I did not take some sort of course to keep myself busy.Is anyone else like that?

And the more I think about me finishing off with one program and starting another one come next semester, I have this weird urge to keep studying. Keep learning. Ok Im weird. I’ll be one of those people who refuses to leave school. :o

oopsi - I think this should perhaps be in the careers/academics forum.

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

Hmmm....

I'm a sophmore. I have a lot of years to go before I graduate, and family stuff/own stupidity is making it very hard. I feel like quitting sometimes :( but I know that's not an option. I don't want to be one of those 26 year old college seniors :(

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

Sara -- I dont think its ever easy - you will always have other factors that will affect your education. You have to learn to work around them, or overcome them. I had quite a few issues myself, what with family and friends, but Ive always thought that my education must never be forgotten. Sometimes you might feel like quitting, but dont ever dwell on it. And anyhow theres no age limit to education - thats the great part !

So you're sticking with English major? (I saw your article for gupzine.I must say you're great at creative writing!)

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

I never really thought that there would be such problems. I've never had these kinds of problems my first year of college or in high school. I know realistically quitting isn't an option at all.

MQ lately i've been considering switching to the Media. There's more writing in it involved (reporting, magazine business etc) than the acutal English major. The English major is primarily literature even though I'm in the writing section of it..

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

Yeah I understand. Well media is great to study too! Journalism is interesting, you can always switch your credits over. Keep your options open.

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

so tell me… does your family think you’re nuts! cuz mine does - and I’m exactly the way you are - before one thing ends, I start thinking about “what next”… for instance right now with my Ph.D. 3/4 done, I’m contemplating Law School or another taught Masters program - :smack: I know… sigh

and this despite the fact that I’ve been working more than full-time as well - but work alone doesn’t satisfy me anymore! I’ve worked throughout my undergrad, attended school, and passed industry exams at the same time… did the same thing during my Masters… but had to tone it down a lil for the Ph.D. - only work and studies would have to do

o.k. I’m off to grab a coffee and get some fresh air - more cramming to do…

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

Well, not nuts, but selfish somewhat, yes i get that feeling. And I’m glad i’m not the only one who’s always thinking of the next thing to do while I’m really deep into something right now. My latest idea, is to go back and get another Bachelor’s, then work, then get a Masters… :halo:

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

Umar--- yeah family thinks Im nuts. They call these 'weird habits'. Personally Ive yet to find anything else that I can do that gives me as much satisfaction as studies. I agree even with work, I need something to keep me busy, a challenge of some sort.

And proff jee you know that last minute cramming is a bad idea. :p

Sara-- I dont think its a bad thing - so long as we dont neglect something and jump to something else. I like to do everything thoroughly.

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

I am graduating next week…summa cum laude

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

hey, hey, hey!!! Whats wrong with that! :hoonh: Although i aint 26 (or 25 for that matter!) yet! :stuck_out_tongue:

I had to quit school for a while becase of work pressure. And hence graduating at the age when most my highschool mates are doing their masters but who cares. You learn not only in school but also in otehr areas of life.

skhan: i am also graduating next week InshaAllah that is if i clear this horribly complex complex analysis and abstract algebra. :bummer:

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

bukhari99 – Yup definately. I cant wait to hear how he does on his exams! And yeah he is the ideal proff. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ira-- Best of luck!

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

electrical engineering

yes i m a fob

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

i have three more yrs to go..

and MQ the same happens to me,i get this weird feeling of unrest too even on long weekends.

Re: Graduating…yes?..no?

Don’t worry I feel the same. I think a summer vacation is way too long so I usually take summer classes even if it is a class not directly related to my major. But I guess this is the reason why I decided to go to grad school. I haven’t really worked much so I don’t really imagine myself working…although I know I will eventually.
Have any of u gone through school and never done an internship or had any jobs?

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

Insha-Allah will graduate with a 2.1 in July. I had the first of my final exams today. :)

Then year out...

Re: Graduating...yes?...no?

So have you decided what you're going to do after graduation?
