GPS

I’m planning on buying a portable GPS but I’m not sure which one to buy.
Any recommendations? Will any GPS system work in Pakistan? and add/update maps.?

Re: GPS

^ I don't think they have digital map of pakistan??

Re: GPS

I have Garmin Nuvi 660 and it's decent enough but a bit pricey. I would suggest not to spend more than $200 on a GPS. You should be able to find one in the range from Mio C220, Pharos 250 Drive, Tom Tom ONE, Magellan Maestro 3200, Garmin Street Pilot c530 or c340. These are all well rated GPS systems. They will work in Pakistan but you won't find any roads or streets as they don't have digital maps yet.

Re: GPS

I did checked this sometime ago and I took my Garmin to Pakistan, There is a Garmin dealer who sells maps for major cities. unfortunately untill last year they were not compatible with City Navigator 5 and above. Means that no voice guided routes but like old City Select and Metro Guid which shows you the route and map without voice.

Even I tried World map and it did had major roads of Whole world including Pakistan.

The Maps for any Major city in Pakistan was available additionally on SD card for something like 5500 Rs to 8500 Rs. at that time.
I dout that tom tom has any maps for Pakistan. Although I myself like tomtom but due to ease of use arround the world I bought Garmin.

Re: GPS

Even if there were maps, what good is a GPS in Pakistan? Roads have no signs. And roads are seriously not that complicated in Pakistan to need a GPS.
