They work on picking up a singla from GPS satelite from a minimum of three lock-ons it can calculate your longitude and lattidue in the world. The more satelite lock-ons you have the better the accuracy. Software then takes with along with a extensive map and tell where to go along with speed ETA which is more accurate than a speedo in car.
I', only guessing what you maybe wanting to know. if you want a response you should phrase your question properly.

They are being used now why not the future ? only problem with GPS is it's a bit inaccurate for some uses and the US Army who runs the satelites turns down accuracy at time of war so EU developing Galeo system more reliabe and accurate but wont be ready until about 10 years.
Very cool stuff by the way, I have the HP BT308, which interfaces with either my iPaq or my laptop via BlueTooth and then I use TomTom on my ppc and Garmin on the PC (not at the same time obviously) and it talks to me and directs me as to where to go.
I have Garmin's Street Pilot installed in my wife's car. Its very nice and extremely useful. If you find 2620 expensive then you can get 2610. Its about 500 bucks cheaper, and the difference is that the first time you use it, you have to connect it to your computer to download the maps of your state. In 2620 all the maps are pre-installed in the hard disk.
i wrote about the street pilot 2620 in my 1st semester projekt i just wanted to know if it was a good produkt and if you guys think that it would be used in the future.
so you helped be thanks!!!!!
some people say it is good for women becouse they dont know how to find way!
but that is not true guys also forget their destinations sometime ;o)
its always good to find a way when you are new to the city or in another country.
but these get tricky and oversmart sometime when you trying to find a local location. it can wind you up many streets. cause some path calculations algorithms are not correct in some GPS receiver systems.
