Breach of code of conduct charge withdrawn from presidential reference

ISLAMABAD: Federation has withdrawn the charge of breach of code of conduct included in the reference against Chief Justice of Pakistan.

During the hearing of constitutional petition of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry by full court of the Supreme Court on Monday, the Federation informed the learned court that paragraphs number 34 and 36 related to the violation of code of conduct of the court, have been withdrawn from the reference against the chief justice.

The counsel of the referring authority and the President of Pakistan, Sharifuddin Pirzada told this to the bench when the court proceedings resumed today.

But he added that the charges of misuse of power against chief justice would remain to be a part of the reference.

The 13-member full court headed by Justice Khalilur Rahman Ramday, comprises of Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice M Javed Buttar, Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad, Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, Justice Ch Ijaz Ahmed, Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, Justice Hamid Ali Mirza and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.

The govt. had alleged that in some cases CJP had written judgments that were in complete contrast with his verbal judgments on the same case.

Let us see if the army leadership will resepct the Judiciary.

If so, then it's a good thing...let pas sins be forgotten. If, however, they try to undercut the judiciary, then the generals need to be removed from power and charged with treason.

I'm sure there are many colonel's willing to do the deed...
