** NWFP governor says ‘decisive operation will root out terrorism from Pakistan’

ISLAMABAD: As a military offensive rages on against the Taliban in Malakand and Swat, the government on Sunday ordered a “full-fledged” military operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud and Mehsud tribes for harbouring terrorists, abetting terrorist activities and killing innocent people.

“Law-enforcement agencies have been ordered to launch a comprehensive operation against Mehsud tribes and the TTP chief and his followers for their failure to fulfil their duties in accordance with the law of the land,” said NFWP Governor Awais Ghani at a press conference at Frontier House, but did not provide a date for the launch of the operation. The Online news agency claimed the operation would follow the offensive in Malakand.

He said “this would be an affective and decisive operation that would root out terrorism from Pakistan “.

The military has already moved closer to Waziristan agencies with operations underway in adjoining districts.

The governor said that TTP chief Meshud had been named in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. “He (Baitullah) was also behind the October 18 attack on a PPP caravan in Karachi and several other attacks.”

The decision to launch the operation against Mehsud tribes had been made to “protect the lives and properties of the people of Pakistan from the barbaric terrorists of Mehsud tribes”.

“Mehsud tribes were told time and again that their activities are unacceptable,” he said.

Ghani said Mehsud tribes had not only failed to evict foreign terrorists from their areas, but had also continued operating training camps.

“There are a large number of foreign terrorists in the areas. They are getting help from outside,” he said in a reference to Afghanistan.

He said that Mehsud tribes were bound by tradition and law not to shelter any terrorists or criminals, but “they acted otherwise … forcing the government to take action”.

Get the coward out of the hole, i wish we can catch him alive and stone him to death. Then cut his head and hang it in Swat so others can learn from him.

I know it might take a while but we need to target these high level monsters, we won't gain much just by killing brainwashed teenagers.

not the right time to start operation against mehsud..army should not open so many battle grounds...i think army should complete swat operation...and atleast idp belonging to dir,shangla,bunner,kalam etc should be send home...
one of the important local commander zain uddin mehsud has announced support for army operation...mullaj nazir and gul bahadur etc r also against fighting pakistan and its army...
thanks god tht army has used its brain and talked to guys like mullah nazir etc..
bait ullah mehsud should be isolated..security in different cities should be increase..police and intellgience must keep close eye on banned organisation workers,criminals and afghanis..
i think local administration should give a time frame within which locals should leave their homes..airforce and helicopters will play vital vital role in this fight..and their use must be very heavy ..

Are we that much DEPENDENT on US , that as they DICTATE we will begin obeying thier orders.

Cannot we manage for Target killing these Culprites and Miscreants ?
Is our Govt being backed by WORLD SUPER POWER cannot make networks that will BREAK the existing Networks of Taliban.

Being Wazirastani , I know how much loyal our People are to Pakistan , But our SLAVISH MINDED RULERS are going for actions to make these tribles their enemies.

I do not Believe our CORRUPT govt with SLAVISH mind is sincere with the ACTUAL SOLUTION OF THIS ISSUE...... They have nothing with Pakistan/Our Nationals and National interests ............ but they have to Prolong their tenure full of corruption , price hike and unemployement.

although i believe this war was never ours and it was mush due to which we r suffering..but now we have to realise our ground realities...tribel culture tht used to exist is now vanished..many areas r now under control of mehsud..he is not even interested in talking to ulemas or local leaders..target killing is possible when u have a group in a particular area and memebers of group r limited..but when we talk abt mehsud,u r taking abt 20000 local,uzbek,tajik,arabs,afghans militants with latest weapon from russia,india,israel etc and they have huge area and the terrain is very difficult too..
i strongly believe army must isolate mehsud from mullah nazir,gul bahadur etc..otherwise i will not support this operation..mullah nazir and gul bahadur r very pro pakistani and americans always attack on them and never on bait ullah..one of the reason isi is blamed for double game beacause isi has not done much to control mullah nazir,haqqani etc...

qari zain uddin mehsud has announced to fight against mehsud.he has the support of local 3000 people...i think army should provide air cover to zain uddin fighters and also use mullah nazir to kick the ass of indian and israel supported uzbeks as did two years ago..

Catch this rat, cut his head off while hes alive... broadcast this live on TV.....and put his head somewhere in SWAT and that should teach people a good lesson!

And give his dead body to the rats....they will have a good night :)

Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai , was the First Trible Govornor of NWFP who was on some Important Army Operations responsibilties in GHQ in Pakistan Army before he was appointed as Govornor of NWFP.

When he formed a GRAND GIRGA and started Negotiation with these trible warriors he was More than 100% successfull , I myself have seen the fruits of that Miran shah Accord.
But , I think every one is and Should be aware , that , US was not in favour of Miran shah accord.

and every one knows the after ward situations and at last this TRIBLE person unwantedly resigned from Govornership.

That was SINCERE effort by Orkzai , as he was not only aware with the trible traditions but was also sincere with his efforts.

I think same type of struggles could be initiated again , and why our Govt sould depend on Warriors again , Mullah Nazir , Gul Bahadar etc........

Do not we have Our other Intelligence resources ..........

There is Concept of QUM(Tribe) in North Wazirastan and same is in South Wazirastan and other trible areas.

Every Tribe is subject to be Gaurd of their own LAND (Each Tribe has been given particular piece of Land) and this RULE is very well known SINCE the formation of Pakistan ( The rule of Collective Resposibility).

If that strategy is given with New Energy and Fueled with ARMS/FORCES , i donot thing any warrior can survive in Wazirastan agency.

But the Fact still Prevails .................... WE HAVE TO SHOW THE WORLD..... WE ARE AGAINST TERRORISM .............. WHAT EVER THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD BE .............. EVEN BREAKING OF PAKISTAN.......
