Very difficult for the current government.
If you remember this blog,from before the last elections, a lot of areas in the region supported politicians for sectarian affiliations rather than for political affiliations. The political parties had no choice but to pander to such nonsense.
I hope things improve though.

According to the article above out of 20000 madrasahs of the country about 7000 are located here. LEJ to JEM, all have their presence in these areas.

If military establishment stop supporting these "assets", political parties won't be looking for their support. Period!
It anyone thinks that these elements have support of political janta then they can't be more wrong. It is otherway around, politicains seeks support of these elements if a member of any political party disobey them.. He gets his death warrant then and there...
If Gen. Raheel Sharif stop this support, their fate would lot more worse than what happened to MQM...
So lets be honest to ourseleves, Punjab Govt announce what it may want..if thar helps them sleep, so be it...hoga wohi ju army decide karay gee

so in your opinion, army is still not giving up on its old policy of harboring some of these religious and sectarian terrorist organizations so that they can be used as assets against indian in kshmir or elsewhere?
i mean it is an open secret that our army has used this policy in the past but one would like to think that with this ongoing operation against these elements in wazristan, army has a complete change of heart.
i dont know the answer. pmln haters would say that army has changed and it is PMLN who is supporting and harboring these religious organizations in punjab.

Jamat ud Dawa is a key here, so does SSP who works under new name of Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jammat...later is involved on sectarian killings...in past it had full support of establishment, now recentlt they have killed its Malik Ishaq, reason was he became a liability...otherwise SSP is fully functional and working and doing business as usual...
These two are The Assets of military establishment...many other outfits are sponsored or have blessings of these two..
Also donot forget wahdat al muslmeen, shia version of SSP...
Unless the leadership of these three is taken down... Everything else would be just a cosmetic effect...
