can any one help me to sort out this?
back biting is equal to eat the meat of your true brother but on the other hand many women do this & say its not a evil deed we are just passing the time. now tell me that just for the sake of time pass can some 1 do this?

back biting is not only forbidden but listening to it is forbidden ( just found this out my self) and a muslim is supposed to up hold the honour of the muslim against whom a salander is being said.

There are only 3 conditions when gheebat is allowed .. other than that, its haram.

Keeping in mind that gheebat is talking bad about someone when the bad stuff is true cause if it is not true then its not gheebat, its buhtan.

Here are the 3 times when you could share bad stuff about someone with others, behind that person's back

  1. If someone asks you about the character of a boy or a girl because they are planing to marry their kid with that person, you should tell the truth.

  2. In the court of law, whether the person is present or not

  3. When mentioning someone's bad stuff saves the community from major fitna.
