...Gosht...

This is so annoying. One day upon leaving university, I called and asked mom what she had cooked bcause I was really hungry. She said “gosht”. I got excited because I thought it’s “beef” but when I came home, it was mutton :grumpy: Needless to say, I was turned off and ticked off at this deceiving word gosht!

Gosht = Meat

But when people say gosht in urdu, it means mutton :confused: Cow’s meat is “bara gosht” and chicken is called some kind of other gosht.

I mean what the heck! Gosht (meat) is gosht (meat).

If it’s bakrey ka gosht, just say “bakrey ka gosht”
if it’s gaaey ka gosht, just say “gaaey ka gosht”
if it’s murghi ka gosht, just say “murghi ka gosht” or chicken.

What’s all this gosht, bara gosht, and what not :grumpy:

Re: ...Gosht...

trust me, its not so bad as having pasta (with no meat) to eat everyday for a week and phoning home, asking your mum if she could make chicken salan, then finally getting home and finding daal on the table.

Re: …Gosht…

assalamu alaikum,

Exactly! I miss my mom’s cooking. I’m usually the one who cooks now, although my husband does pitch in and help me, woohoo! (he makes better tea than I do :blush: )

wassalam

Re: …Gosht…

I don’t like mutton either, it stinks, especially the oujari :grumpy:

Beef, I will only eat boneless beef. i.e. boneless qorma.

Chicken :love: I don’t care whether it’s fried, baked, cooked, roasted, or whatever, nor do I care if it’s cooked in Pakistani way, American, Spanish, Italian or whatever, I’ll eat it anywhere, anytime :love:

I appreciate my mom’s cooking, but my problem is with this stupid confusing word gosht :grumpy:
