Re: Gosht Smell!!

If it still smells bad after doing all you are doing, it doesn't seem like something I would eat.

Re: Gosht Smell!!

Sadaf,

My mom used to say that to get rid of that typical smell of meat, beef and chicken, it must be cooked for a while with garlic and ginger. Gosht alone must be cooked for a while with only garlic and ginger before adding any other masaals. Everything else should be added only after you notice a 'nice' smell coming out of it.

Many people do not even notice that smell and eat without being bothered that's why not all the people use this tip.

Now say thanks so that I could convey it to my mom :p

Re: Gosht Smell!!

frying the meat with garlic b4 u add anything else usually gets rid of the smell.

Re: Gosht Smell!!

You can say thanks to her anyway. :k: moms are the best  My mom not around to give me tips :frowning: Wish she could have a computer in Jannat :stuck_out_tongue:

Khair i made qeema yesterday and fried it well.. with all the things u guys told me.. And MY HUSBAND LOVED IT… no smell at all…
I think the main thing is to bhoonafy the gosht well… but i dont want to put too much oil there :frowning:

Thanks guys

Re: Gosht Smell!!

Aur lotay miyan.. aap ka totka main ne sambhal ke rakh liya hai, jab kabhi aap ki daawat ki to yeh totka zaroor istemal karoon gi ;)

Re: Gosht Smell!!

Sadaf, you do not need to add oil. My mom used to say that the 'oil' is produced naturally by the gosht/keema/beef. Adding more oil will only make it high in cholestrol. So, yes, 'bhoon'.... I mean she used to say 'gosht ko bhoon na chahiye for some time with only garlic and ginger, nothing else. No oil, nothing. And I remember she used to add well crushed garlic and ginger. Almost like paste.

Happy it worked :)

Re: Gosht Smell!!
